Nigel “The Boss” Adkins.... I’m a little disappointed it didn’t have “The Philosopher” or “The Thinker” on it... oh, and “Sir Rickie Lambert” ... even Nigel knew.
Happily Ralph loves it here and we give him a level of control he wouldn’t get at a bigger club and a relationship with board that he would struggle to recreate elsewhere too Maybe we should worry more about losing Martin Semmens? Look at the consequences of Don Cortese leaving
My mate posted this last night on a WhatsApp group asking it to be named... I got it, but it must be an early photo
Yeah, I git that bit I notice no chocolate boxes. Anyone know when they were added and what the big chimneys in the background are? Power station perhaps ? Godders did you work there? @St. Luigi Scrosoppi
Top right is the old power station on the site of which Saints planned to build a new stadium in the late 70s but, like Pompey's new stadium, it was all a pipe dream. I can see the clock tower but the there are two chimneys I don't know about because they are before my time.
I think that may have been Pirelli's chimney. The Rank Hovis mill is out of shot. Come on guys it's your ****ing city. I am a new comer. I guess most of you must have failed history and geography.
As someone helpfully pointed out, "Matt, they are periodically deleting all the bots that have latched on to your account to amplify the nonsense you talk. The aim of these bots is to damage us as a society. Have a think on that eh..."
Apparently (according to my brother - who’s been a native of Southampton for 6 years longer than me) there was a power station down by the Lido and the other chimney IS Pirelli. Good call, Godders .....
No floodlights either. We hosted the first floodlit game in October 1950, so this is at least a year or two earlier.
