http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/13842309.Clasie_set_for_Southampton_return_/?ref=rss I am fed up with not knowing where to put bits about Saints when the match thread is not available or the article is not relevant, so have started it with a piece suggesting Clasie may be available this weekend.
http://sport.bt.com/sport-football/...way-into-england-senior-squad-S11364010360956 Gareth Southgate has told JWP he can still force his way into the senior squad. Mentions his bizarre decision to drop James for the last two U21 matches in the recent finals....which I felt was daft as he was the Captain up to that point.
Going to post again on my own little thread SaintsWeb is running a thread on SKD's future...it's his testimonial year coming up. Most seem to think the club will give him some role....I'm sure they will unless he wants to keep playing at a lower level (unlikely I would think). Does anyone know if he has taken any coaching badges....not heard anything, so perhaps his interest isn't in that direction. A few say the club owes him nothing!!...legally not as he has been well paid and hasn't played much lately, but I think the club value him for other things...otherwise why would he be club Captain.
Hope we can find him something ......... I would think he would be a great GK coach with his experience, but, as you say, perhaps he's not interested in that. Maybe a career in media beckons ?
http://www.shoot.co.uk/newcastle-to-take-gamble-on-southampton-flop/ Newcastle said to be after Ramirez. Don't like them calling him a flop....may be a flop, but he is our flop.
Agree as he will never play for the first team unless the team gets Ebola, but I still kinda like him. Wish him the best.
He did stick with us in our dark days, he could have taken the easy money on then premier league West Hams bench. But when we were saved he stuck with us........so it's a yes from me to find him a role of sorts within the club.
I believe SKD said at some point last year that he was interested in staying at the club in some manner and becoming a coach would be a natural progression, but he hadn't gotten his qualifications yet. I don't know if the club "owing" Davis anything comes into play. He seems to be well-spoken, the fans like him, and he seems to know how to communicate well with other players and coaches as well. It seems obvious to me he can be an asset to the club so it would be foolish not see if they can advantage of it. In what role, I don't know but he would be someone I'd want around for his future contributions, not past.
Jose said the other day that if anyone from the squad was most likely to win a series of Big Brother it would be SKD. To me that means he's got quite a personality. That suggests to me that media beckons, in some form or another. Maybe he's going to head up Saints new TV channel.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/34545871 Ranieri says he had talks with Southampton before Koeman was appointed. He said he took the Greece job, although he was interested in Saints...adding he made a mistake. Well we didn't
Saying he made a mistake implies that he was offered the job and turned it down which is not what we've been led to believe. The club has always said that Ron was their first choice. Mind games.
Just what just what I was thinking. A clumsy attempt to get one over on Ron, which I hope no one takes seriously.
Not sure he was implying too much. States that he was asked about the Saints job (but not offered it)....I think he was saying his mistake was taking the Greece job instead of pursuing his interest in Saints. Just interpretation. Is Ranieri prone to mind games...not that I remember. Remember we do have lists....RK may have been top, but feasible we could have sounded out numbers 2 and 3.
