You'd think the above would have set some alarm bells ringing as well as kick some of our own manufacturing to prepare for what was coming ahead

Why keep blaming the ****ing government, try blaming the regional NHS trusts who would rather spend hundreds of thousands on unnecessary managers and middle managers each year than spend their budget on medical supplies. Then everybody harping on about care homes not having enough PPE, 84% of all care homes are in the private sector, they are NOT run by the NHS, they are privately owned or run by corporations and DO NOT rely on the usual NHS supply chain, they source their PPE from the suppliers themselves and like most businesses they don’t stock large quantities of equipment which is dead money while it sits in a store room. Now we move onto keeping hospitals supplied, again every body blaming the government, well here’s a news flash for those who don’t know, I have many friends in the haulage industry who are delivering to hospitals and NHS trusts and you CANNOT deliver goods to any hospital if they only open their goods in department between 9am and 3pm and are generally shut between 12-1 for dinner leaving a mere 5 hour window for deliveries, so when you have delays in loading and delays in earlier deliveries to other hospitals so when you finally arrive at a delivery point and it’s shut what do you do, just dump it on the ****ing doorstep, no you have to take it all the way back to the depot and try again the next day, it’s not the Government who are totally to blame their are many factors why deliveries aren’t being delivered and the biggest is asshole jobsworth goods in managers who won’t bend the rules and allow deliveries 24/7. However the biggest problem is the simple fact that there are only so many suppliers and manufacturers of PPE and unless you haven’t noticed the whole fu*king world wants the same stuff and for the time being demand is outstripping supply which is rare and until the manufacturers increase production the sad fact is you cannot have what isn’t there. Rant over.

This is kind of the point I was trying to make. A lot of these problems are down to administration downfalls due to layers of red tape. However, the government must take final responsibility and surely should have sorted these issues out by now?

Seems like an inopportune time to start listening to the EU’s advice but I guess the risk at the time was low. We’ve seen the different results from acting decisively versus dithering and hoping it would go away.
Just out of interest, which bits do you know to be factual and which bits are untrue. An evidence based reply would be much more of a constructive contribution during these horrific times.
I get what you say, yes in the long run the government must sort it out, however you CANNOT with all the will in the world fix something if you don’t know it’s broken, the Government are not responsible for hospitals and private care homes having no PPE, this is down to management of these establishments, and when this is all over its my opinion that the system must change, at the moment it’s all about profit and loss whereas it should be all about living or dying, the management of the NHS has a lot to answer for, and this includes previous health ministers of both parties, it’s a simple fact after this heads must roll.
I lose interest after about the third line of most of Turkish’s rants but when he starts on about “middle managers” it just looks like some right wing Facebook meme. In his defence he didn’t go for the classic “£45k diversity manager” line. I struggle to believe that hospitals are having vital deliveries which will save their staff’s lives and someone is saying no because it’s 12:01 and they have lunch from 12-1. Honestly mate if you want to challenge every poster on here for spouting made-up nonsense then good luck to you. I’d start with Ellers and you’d clear about 70% of it.
Looks like it was just her every day symptoms flaring up to be honest Turkish. She's rightly paranoid as hell at the moment. My step brother (aged 50) passed away last night. Found in his bed in Somerset last night. I didnt really know him that well and just waiting to find out more. He did speak to my stepfather earlier in the week saying he felt unwell.
