Yeah they’re probably doing really well and I’m just paranoid about things like deaths painting a false picture of that.
Maybe Gove is right about experts? Why is it that you can gather a myriad experts on seemingly any given topic and there's never unanimity? If experts are experts then why does their expertise not lead them all to the same conclusions? How do aeroplanes stay up there? What is a kumquat?
no Kiwi, not at all You need a flu jab (nearly) every year, because it is a different strain of flu most years. H1N1 one year, H1N7 another; there are a lot of flu strains!. Ontop of that the flu virus hypermutates a lot, so with time 1970 H1N1 does not look exactly like 2020 H1N1. However, if you have a jab against H1N1 you should stay immune to that strain for a long time Corona virus on the whole has not really caused much danger, often going through the population with little effect ( a cold, a cough etc. But in the 21st Century we have had 3 pandemics SARS (severe acute respiratory syndrome) in 2003 which is called CoVid1, It started again in Chinese wet markets probably from bats or civets. There were about 10,000 cases and a death rate of 10% , many in health workers. It was contained within 6 months, because it was not "super" infectious, but was human to human transmissable. MERS (middle-eastern respiratory syndrome) was an animal to human transmitting disease...i.e. you seem to get it from animals. That started in 2012, and still going on today, in small pockets in the middle east, but as say you get it from animals, and not many people have camels as pets. That is lucky as it is pretty nasty and kills around 34% of those infected. There have been aboy 3000 deaths. It never became human to human transmissable I do not think CoVid19 is not as fatal as the previous, but is super infectious, which is why we have not been able to contain it. It is still thought to be between 1-3% fatal. So if we can get a vaccine that protects against CoVid 19, it should be pretty good to protect us, until the next corona virus breaks out
Well this ones on the BBC so you might be able to find it - hospitals told to reuse single use PPE or creatively invent PPE out of nothing as supplies might run out this weekend. Let’s not bitch about the government though, that’s the most important thing.
I would like nothing more than to say that the government are doing a good job. unfortunately they are not. At every turn they either **** up, act too late, give vague instructions, lie or at least bullshit! It's like saying Paul Hart did a good job as manager for us just because we are QPR fans.
It's hard to imagine any government ****ing things up more than this one has. We mustn't complain though, because they're doing their best. Just like when a 5 year-old can't keep his colouring inside the lines. `
Every day that passes more examples of their inadequate, reckless responses (or lack of) become more apparant. I honestly dont care that they are tory! I would be like this with any party who has led us to where we are now.
The problem with the government is they are reacting to events rather than leading, every crisis seems to catch them unprepared and when they do take the initiative, as with the £16 million on testing kits they end up cocking it up. The warning signs were there by the beginning of February but we sleepwalked into lockdown and the delay gave other countries a head start in getting the PPE and testing agents that are vital, we're simply playing catchup. I also think the bureaucracy of the NHS with separate health authorities, hospital trusts and the like seems to be complicating matters when a central purchasing agency would be more streamlined in sourcing and distributing essential items. You often hear of items costing multiple times the amount they could be purchased for privately, it seems anything subject to these contracts is a green light for extortion...
Interesting thread re. ventilators. Interesting and a tad gobsmacking. I should warn you it isn’t massively complimentary of the politicians involved in case you now don’t wish to read it, which is fine.
So I reply to your post about ventilators and you come up with something completely different? that's good.
What exactly do you think they’d have done worse thus far? Details if you like. Also, it is a disaster already. How are you not seeing that?
I'm sincerely interested in peoples positive opinions regarding the governments response and actions. I really want to see a different picture.
I would love to hear some positive views on the situation especially regarding the government. I'm sincerely interested but unfortunately Eller has a few on ignore as he doesn't like his opinions being questioned......reminds me of someone does that. Could you possibly ask him?
