The elephant in the room of course is the Damned at City Hall in Dec 79.

I believe the support group was Then Jericho (great name - no really!) but a coachload or two of scruffy Middlesborough 'punks' started throwing their weight around with Hull's teenage suburban New Wavers.
Word reached Bass House, and back up arrived.

The rest, as they say, is history. Messy messy messy to paraphrase the Damned.

It did, as you say, 'get messy' - the pool of blood on the floor was like an oil slick

Not sure about creating more shops - of any persuasion? Don’t we have enough empty shops that desperately need filling? Fine creating more shops if you’re Norwich - with the millions of German tourists that they get ARF. But for us, I’m not convinced.

They need to be careful. The trouble is in Hull they rush in and start these things. Should take a bit more time to reflect before starting them.

Define young?

Err...

I don’t think there’s an answer to this without offending somebody so I’ll decline to answer :1980_boogie_down:

Obviously, some older folk will have interests in these gigs too so that wasn’t my original point. Just then they’ll appeal more to some.

68, Kemps. Though I don't want to see any of those 3 acts.

Gallagher has been on the go that long most of his original fans will be approaching middle age.
