It was the Damned at Middleton Hall when Rat Scabies squirted lighter fuel on his drums and set them alight - what a rebel
Virgin Media is owned by the American communications/entertainment giant Liberty Media, not sure if Branson has much input other than for investment purposes.
He has no involvement, other than the £10m a year he gets in royalties fur the use of the Virgin name.
Dennis is right the Adam Ant one did get shut down because of a fire to the curtains and the place getting smoked out.
The elephant in the room of course is the Damned at City Hall in Dec 79. I believe the support group was Then Jericho (great name - no really!) but a coachload or two of scruffy Middlesborough 'punks' started throwing their weight around with Hull's teenage suburban New Wavers. Word reached Bass House, and back up arrived. The rest, as they say, is history. Messy messy messy to paraphrase the Damned.
My bad. Sure 'Then Jericho' (yeah) supported at some event around then. You never get these fire extinguisher moments at the Clean Bandits.
Then Jericho were a mid-80’s band, I seem to remember quite liking them, though I can’t actually remember any of their songs.
I always feel sad when an old building is demolished, as I hope that they are kept for generations to come. But the Edwin Davis building is an eyesore and should have gone years ago.
