Whatever happened to the HDM?

Online version is full of lowest clickbait inc this confected 'Noel Gallagher rubbishes our city' nonsense.

Shame so many people allowed themselves to be sucked in.

I don't know why anyone truly fell for that. He slags off every city, and at his gigs if he talks to someone in the crowd he always has a few digs, it's almost part of his 'act'.



Also, the HDM site... ****ing hell. Even with an ad blocker it's a massive pile of ****.

As someone who does give a ****, I simply find it to difficult to be sure of what, when, where. I would much prefer to buy English (Yes, not UK). There was a programme,on recently, of a company (in Wales, I think - I caught a small part of it, but they seemed to have heritage in that location) who made denim jeans to order, the lengths they went to in personalising them was amazing, but the prices were looking crazy. I'll buy stuff from wherever, but I do care about the manufacturers rip-off employment terms.

It's Hiut Denim you're thinking of, they have a factory in Cardigan (they should make cardigans as well, missing a trick), they're very good jeans and at £145 to £230, they're not completely ridiculous prices, but they have a great back-story, if I offered UK made jeans for over £100, I'd get nowhere. I'm actually making a raw Japanese stretch selvedge denim jean for next season, it's pretty much exactly the same as a Hiut jean, only mine are made in Tunisia and will retail at £60.

Obviously some people are happy to pay extra for a Made in England label, but sadly, not enough.. I'm seeing a jacket factory in the Midlands next week, but it's really with a view to trying to buy jackets at the same prices I normally sell at just with the origin being an added selling point.

I have no prior inside knowledge about the Hull Venue or its plans, but when I saw those Liam Gallagher tweets my first thought was "it's obviously already agreed then" pretty much as Bummers and DD have said. When they tweeted Viking asking them if they wanted to announce a gig this morning at 8:55am that seemed even more obvious. As if they'd just speculatively pick a time like that and pop a tweet across to see if Viking could squeeze them in.

Some of the comments about the possible LG gig It obviously wasn't set in stone before the 'tweets', Hull Venue just took the opportunity to ask him after Noel's comments and the kid from Hull's tweets. And Noel does always joke with the crowd during his gigs, as already mentioned. Its nonsense that it was pre-planned. Be great if it comes off. As you were.

Yeah, you see what happens when internationally successful performing artists are planning their live performances for the year ahead - what they do is they leave a few nights spare here and there just in case a new to launch venue happens to publicly tweet them to see if they randomly are available to play on a night that the new venue also miraculously has free in its schedule.

Major performing artists do this all the time, it’s standard procedure these days and not in any way, shape or form an opportunist way to drum up attention and anticipation for an already booked gig.

I'm sure that's different to it being 'pre-arranged' and all signed and sealed though, in my opinion. But it was obviously a publicity stunt too.
