So Walcott, Alcacer and Vietto? Complete overhaul of the strike-force then.

Increasingly unsure that Vietto is the answer. He was rather bad for Atletico in his first few appearances, after which he was dropped from the starting lineup, and has been an unused sub/banished entirely from the matchday squad for two months save a single cameo. He could be rehabilitated, but I wouldn't exactly expect him to walk into the squad and provide a serious boost to our attack.

I don't care who we get (although Walcott coming back would be nice) as long as they can SCORE GOALS. I doubt whether I will have heard of them before they are linked to us and become the next potential ballon d'Or winner anyway.

Argh. Now you've got me thinking, "does MP2 deserve the chance to work with that before we cast him down over the cliff".

Or am I being too nice.

I know what you mean.

But from my perspective, I wonder if me going along with that train of thought would make me a hypocrite. I largely dismiss what Pep has done in his career, due to the players he has had at disposal. Man City being a prime example right now - worldie of a team, but because it's packed full of players recruited for huge sums over the past 18 months, since Pep stepped through the door.

Yes MP hands are tied, we all know that. But what he has (or rather, hasn't) managed with what he does have, leaves a lot to be desired.

A new manager on Dec 31st. Walcott walking through the door on Jan 1st. That would be a nice start.

I'm not convinced that failed former players would come back to us at the level they left or that they would achieve it again. Personally I'm more interested in getting McQueen and target on the pitch. Totally convinced they would bust a gut on the itch.
Do you know the reason he failed? Because I do.

Got ready made players within the club already.
Expensive.
No goals, not an awful lot of assists.
Not for me I’m afraid, but if the club were to sign him I’d support him 100% like I do with all the players mentioned on here already.

Pep makes great players play better though.

That for me is a major mark of a good manager. Poch being prime example, Silva also showing it. A consistency of players playing at the maximum (and even slightly above) their potential. You could say the same with Dyche and Houghton too, just in a different style.

There is also a reason the top clubs let him spend stupid levels of money (even for them), it is because he is very good at what he does and if you let him implement his style he will win you trophies.

KFC brought out the double down in the UK?
Mourinho?

Well Mourinho doesn't help. But Shaw has very weak mental health issues. He can't cope with the stress easy it's why his weight goes crazy because he comfort eats. He is missing his foster family badly and actually misses Southampton and feels let down by his agent. He is very very weak mentally and Mourinho doesn't help by calling him fat etc. I feel sorry for him and wouldn't mind him back.

He wouldn't be expensive about 15m. They still owe us add ons and a sell on fee...

That's horrible to hear. If Bertrand goes, I'd take shaw back in a heartbeat if we could get him.

Yeah, if there's a case of Zaha syndrome and Shaw can get back to his best & prove he's not made of glass then I'd take him if/when Bertrand goes. Would be a shame for Targett and McQueen though.

This just random info or might there be something stronger to it Beef? I would guess he might prefer Spurs.

He misses the foster family is all I know and misses a club that cares for him and misses Southampton. Not saying he will come back but he misses it.

He's one of the very few ex-players, who left us for so called bigger things, who I don't miss. But that is only because I how brilliant Bertrand has been as his replacement. So right now, I wouldn't take him back because we still have Ryan.

But absolutely, if we were to sell Bertrand, then I am completely with you.

I have never, ever understood the line about not wanting a player on the basis that they would be returning to somewhere they have previously left.

I have felt for him for some time. He lacked the mental maturity to go to United at the time....he was badly advised. For heaven's sake, he was nurse maided by Nicola so much that he got teased about it here. I would like to think that he can resurrect his career somewhere more sympathetic, but only here if he can really do a job for us....we can't afford acts of kindness at the moment.
