Sorry guys for the life of me I really cannot see either coming back. Sentimentality is one thing, I can understand the pull perhaps in truth though it probably would not resurrect either career. We are not playing the type of football that Walcott would excel in. We have players equally as good as Shaw already. Personally I would be looking to strengthen other positions.
In truth never been a fan of Austin. As I have already said losing Bertrand would not be a problem as we have more than ample replacements. Walcott would be a good replacement agreed......but not with the style we play at the moment.....
VVD, Bertrand, Long, Tadic, Austin, Redmond can all go for me. JWP & Forster, I feel, are well worth persevering with. The rest of them are fine!
Whilst I don't disagree with your to go list (I would add Forster as well) it would be near on impossible to get rid of, and replace that amount of players, in a transfer window imo. This time next year we will still have at least 1 probably more of your to go list I would say (if I had to guess I would say Redmond, Long and Tadic will still be here after the summer window 2018). So this is our issue, we have filled the squad with pretty average PL players who when not performing can very easily get sucked into a relegation fight. They will all be on good money and will be reluctant to move when out of form as the offers they will get won't be as good as the terms they are on now.
Tadic might be worth hanging on to. You never know we might get a manager that realises he is better on the left.
It’s a bit chicken and egg, because the current football suffers because we have no movement off the ball. We need players in who will try and stretch teams, instead of players constantly moving infield for possession
This is Saints we're talking about. Les could sell the whole team and the new team brought in to replace the old team in the same window. That's how good he is.
Selling six players and replacing them with up to six without a pre season to bed everyone in will send me into a meltdown without even considering the option of replacing the manager
What is the worst that could happen? Our form is as bad as it gets. I could honestly only see things getting better. Not that I expect or want it to happen in January.
Given the performance of The Board over the past couple of years l would be surprised if this was a significant transfer window; that would be an admission of wrongdoing. Secondly, to replace the players being discussed on here assumes clubs will be willing to release quality players in the mid-season; unlikely. Thirdly, given our tail-spin of a season; enducing quality players to come to us will be a hard-sell. Finally, if l were the new owners, l would be reticent about ploughing funds into the club until the The Board is sorted out; therein lies the biggest problem we have.
For me reality is one out two in..... who or what I haven’t a clue.......as I’ve said before going on the games up to now I’m not sure mopo2 will survive. If there was something showing what he wants then maybe. If there is though I just can’t see it for the life of me. Edit....I just hope the board is a bit more enterprising than it has shown in the past..
