I agree that we USED to look a different side without Davis. This season we are crap with and without. If you think Davis is still our saviour then you are being willfully blind IMO or not watching us play. As for you wanting to keep Long because he puts in a shift I am suddenly not surprised you want MP to stay. There has been no shortage of running around with the ball and producing absolutely nothing this season. If that's your thing, this is the season of all seasons and Long must be player of the decade.
Simple terms; the acquisition. Agree they have all been huge windows, but feel we wouldn't imbalance the books. I think 2 in, 2 out.
Agree with the first part, second part may signal we just need to move them on, maybe they are slightly disruptive or that we have targets coming on the summer. I honestly think Bertrand won't be a loss if he goes, I'd rather play Targett or Sam, and we have good quality if VVd goes too. The attacking bit is a must though. Not just in personnel but also the tactics, which MP needs to deal with. I said a year ago that if we went out to Beer... then we could be on a downward spiral, I don't think I'm wrong on that as our form has been pretty appalling in 2017.
Yes I wouldn’t actually be sorry to see Ryan and Virgil go, but money has to be spent elsewhere, mainly up front, AM, and a really top class keeper.
I have been led to believe that Theo Walcott held discussions with club reps during the international break. This is an unsubstantiated rumour I’ve been told which was supposed to have come from a member of his wife’s side of the family
It does strike me the side does look unsettled.........I get the impression though that it is mainly the way they are asked to play. Some Of the players have natural talents but for what ever reasons are not being allowed to use them. Truly baffling........
Tallies with what I heard/mentioned a while back. It has legs, and he wants to come. Whether it happens or not is another thing.
Yeah but we can do some cringey "sign da ting" campaign like Arsenal did to convince him to sign. Is his contract up in the summer? Can't imagine him wanting to be on 100k a week if not, must be on a fair bit more at Arsenal. Seems like the perfect West Ham signing to me tbh.
Eighteen months remaining on his deal. Could be worth it for him to take a lower number on a longer-term deal, but then we're looking at paying a player whose chief attribute is his athleticism through age 32 or 33, which carries some risk.
I'm not convinced that failed former players would come back to us at the level they left or that they would achieve it again. Personally I'm more interested in getting McQueen and target on the pitch. Totally convinced they would bust a gut on the itch.
Your constant baiting of Ian is extremely tedious, extremely childish and well worthy of a word from a moderator frankly.
You know we so desperately lack a target man. I think we are all agreed on that. It seems we were very close to securing a top class one in the summer (though not all convinced by that rumour) but not prepared to spend a lot of money on a second best target. If we secure one in the January window then we will start to see the best of Long, Gabbi and maybe even Tadic(if he stays on his feet). If we don’t we could be in trouble. As a fallback I would even consider getting Gallagher back. No cost but at least he is the right style of forward we need to very low risk.
Looks like a bit of a 2+2 = 5 piece of journalism, but the Mirror reporting City want to beat Liverpool to the signing of Virgil. Which is absolutely fine by me. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/manchester-city-set-battle-liverpool-11548973
Argh. Now you've got me thinking, "does MP2 deserve the chance to work with that before we cast him down over the cliff". Or am I being too nice.
