I didn't look at his wage. I saw somewhere your average wage was 30k? (sorry but I don't even really keep tabs on most of Liverpools players wages, let alone other teams) so I just went with that.
That's minor anyway as the point I was making still stands
If you got offered a 250% payrise to do exactly the same somewhere else, and with more chance of success, you'd do what was needed to get the job. These guys aren't any different.
Who knows what will happen but I'd be surprised if he stayed. I'd also be surprised if Liverpool signed him.

I don't want him for 70mil anyway. I think we'd get just as good for far less.
It is way down on our average wage. Of course, we do have quite a few academy graduates in our first team squad. Probably more than many, so that drops our average. I believe that VVD is on 80-85K+ a week. One of the reasons why Jose got all shirty, I'm informed, 'cause he was on a bit less. Has Beddy been teaching you maths? 80k - 150/200k isn't a 250% increase.
Might not be that simple. Perhaps he get that 4 million (or close to it) in a loyalty bonus if sold next year without handing in a transfer request.
And who knows how much he would lose handing in a request to get out this summer
Or perhaps it is up to the buying club in the future to bridge the gap for this "lost" 4 million when the transfer goes through in either sign on fee or a higher wage at the new club.
Saints are under no obligation to bump his money up to keep him to a contract he has already signed up to.
