and lose about 4 million pound in the process? Yeah okaay.

You'll need to bump his money up imo.

Thank you for your advice on this matter.

Schneiderlin did exactly that, which you seem to still be ignoring. I'm not saying VVD will, but it's hardly beyond the realms of possibility, as you seem to be suggesting.

My guess (complete guess as I have no insider knowledge) is that this happened last summer and there is something in the contract he signed that gives him an out clause if a certain level of team bids high enough. I think this is also why he isn't kicking up a huge fuss atm as he knows this will be met at some point.

This is what I suspect too.

Still pretty sure he'll go this Summer.

Of course he wants to leave, he probably wants to sack his agent too.

He's been tied down to what 30k a week? when he knows he could be earning 150-200k a week. Anyone would want to leave in that situation.

Loyalty is done. He wants that cash.

How much extra did Raheem get?

You're right Skylarker, however your estimate/guess at 30k shows how lacking in knowledge big club fans are of us minnows. We're not that bleeding small :)

I didn't look at his wage. I saw somewhere your average wage was 30k? (sorry but I don't even really keep tabs on most of Liverpools players wages, let alone other teams) so I just went with that.

That's minor anyway as the point I was making still stands <ok>

If you got offered a 250% payrise to do exactly the same somewhere else, and with more chance of success, you'd do what was needed to get the job. These guys aren't any different.

Who knows what will happen but I'd be surprised if he stayed. I'd also be surprised if Liverpool signed him.

I did start my post saying you're right.

It is way down on our average wage. Of course, we do have quite a few academy graduates in our first team squad. Probably more than many, so that drops our average. I believe that VVD is on 80-85K+ a week. One of the reasons why Jose got all shirty, I'm informed, 'cause he was on a bit less. Most of the first-teamers are on indecent money.

Has Beddy been teaching you maths? 80k - 150/200k isn't a 250% increase.

Might not be that simple. Perhaps he get that 4 million (or close to it) in a loyalty bonus if sold next year without handing in a transfer request.
And who knows how much he would lose handing in a request to get out this summer

Or perhaps it is up to the buying club in the future to bridge the gap for this "lost" 4 million when the transfer goes through in either sign on fee or a higher wage at the new club.

Saints are under no obligation to bump his money up to keep him to a contract he has already signed up to.
