I don't want him for 70mil anyway. I think we'd get just as good for far less.

If I was a Liverpool fan*, I'd want him for 70m.... but then again he can't be that good as he only plays for little ole Southampton:)

Awaits video call from Herr Klopp

ThInking about it, I'd be a perfect Liverpool fan. I'm patronising, talk down to people, think I'm better than I am, I'm always harping on about my footballing history, when in reality I've been nothing but an over bloated house of cards for the last 25 years and nobody remembers or cares when I was actually any good.

Laughable article, claiming we've backed ourselves into a corner and the classic champions league football demand.

Exactly.

How has it meant we're at risk of "missing out on a bumper £50m pay out"? We'll get that next year. Or the year after, regardless. If we turned round right now and said "£50m and he's yours" we'd have five offers the next day. And in what sense has he said "I only want to play for Liverpool" then in the next sentence "he wants to play for a CL club" - I hadn't realised it was a one team competition next year.

I think that bit is telling "this year".
I have said it before on other boards, no player is going to commit 4 or 5 years of his career on the strength of 6 games in the CL. this is only an excuse for moving to teams like Barca, Madrid, PSG (or Celtic :bandit:), teams that can more or less guarantee CL football most years not teams who get there once every 6 or 7 years.
To use it as an excuse for moving to the occasional competitor is just another way of saying "I want more money".

You clearly don't understand just how good VVD is, then.
With VVD you have a CB with presence, who is good in the air, more than comfortable with the ball at his feet, has good pace, brings the ball out and into the opponent's half, can hit 60/70 yard passes and is a constant threat at set pieces. IMO, he could play any position on the pitch and walk off, after 90 minutes, with MOTM.
Who do you think would be just as good for far less, then, because £70m should be the minimum price for a player with his skills.
If you were to get him for £50m, you would be back on here within 4 weeks of the season having started, telling us he was worth twice what you paid.

Agreed, the only other CB who can compete with him in the Premier League is Toby A. Maybe Scousehampton should ask Levy how much for him? Bet it would be nearer £100m than £70m

Are you on a %? He's rubbish and not worth buying.:bandit:

VVD is not going to Liverpool.

They have publicly declared they have no interest in him and should they go back on their word then the big fat dossier that Les has compiled on their scandalous tapping up will be delivered within the hour by motorcycle courier to the FA. They will then be well and truly in the ****.

The Scousers can carry on creaming their trousers thinking they will get him but it just isn't going to happen.

This latest Virgil fest has been generated by the sad deluded Scousehampton bloggers that are perpetuated on NewsNow and other such sites
Move on Scouse Scum you aren't a big enough club to pay £70m for a top player, leave it to the real Big Boys
