Thought it would be better to get this out the transfer thread as it looks like it could rumble on.

Southampton still fully expect the Premier League to carry out an investigation after they reported Liverpool for the “tapping-up” over van Dijk which could yet result in a heavy fine or more severe punishment.

There is a reluctance from the Premier League to get involved and yet Mirror Sport understands other clubs have offered their support to Southampton and are looking for them to take a strong stance on the matter.

According to an ITK on Saintsweb, Virgil insists it was a misunderstanding and he and Klopp were only playing Monopoly. <laugh>

Liverpools arrogance astounds me, and this is another example.

The speed at which they have retracted their interest shows that a) they are already in trouble for tapping up and b) there was an element of truth.

Whichever way round it makes either VVD or Liverpool look less than savvy and low on morals.

This one cracked me up on the scouse board:
KLOPP's trip to Blackpool has turned out as bad as when we signed Charlie Adam. Lol

The statement clearly implicates LFC in wrong doing. I sincerely hope that the FA continue with their investigation which, if proved, could result in an LFC transfer ban.

Why on earth would there be a reluctance from the Premier League to get involved. You can't let clubs get away with this. 'Sorry I got caught' doesn't cut it.

The release of information to the press was carefully managed with reports appearing at the same time. What I found particularly disturbing was that twat Carragher abusing his position with the BBC to fulfil his part in the corrupt and underhand episode. The BBC should ban all of their pundits from suggesting that a player from club X is just what club Y want. It is exploiting their position to promote the interests of other favoured clubs and I wouldn't be surprised in the least, seeing what a rotten little club Liverpool are, that bungs might be involved. Add to that a junior coach with Liverpool makes a coordinate statement that he would like to see Virgil in a Liverpool shirt. As I said earlier just remember it isn't only the accent in Liverpool that is thick.

I sent an email to a colleague in Liverpool this morning saying that I would be happy to work in their office provided they gave me a 400% increase in salary and I copied in my boss.
No reply from my colleague yet but my boss replied pointing out that I had a long contract and that if there was any more of such talk he would arrange all further training with the reserves and loan me the Portsmouth office.<laugh>

Because it's a 2 tier league where the so called bigger clubs can do pretty much no wrong.

On the last day of the season with the John Terry farce, it became very clear quickly that Moyes knew, as did the players and refs, if anyone had profited from that financially by spot betting-which has since been proven, the FA should be all over it. Especially as the goalie got the sack in the FA cup for eating a pie...!

So what did the FA do....? Absolutely nothing.... announced it as no investigation the next day.

The FA.... our national joke governing body...!

All I can say is... GOOD.!

I don't think there has been a single one of us on here who has been 100% happy with the way Liverpool have conducted their business with Saints since we returned to the Premier League. Over the seasons, I have found it remarkable how certain players have gone from being entirely happy, and in the centre of the squad, to overnight desperately wanting to go to Anfield to play [Once, maybe twice a season, I would have thought, was a perfectly adequate amount]. The Lallana's, Lambert's and Co... were all fine until they went on England duty. Then they came back subtly changed, and their attitudes slowly got worse and worse. And all this in mid-season outside any transfer windows. And these days it wouldn't surprise me if it is Lallana doing the initial tapping. Just as Gerrard and Carragher almost certainly did it before. I'd like to see an investigation into this, and as to whether anyone finds anything or not, it might just dissuade a few people from thinking that Saints are the usual soft touch.
