Don't know when it happened, but Virgil has removed his picture in Saints kit from his twitter feed (it was there when I left for my hols a week ago). So childish.

 

Doesn't need to put in a transfer request, that is absolute last straw as it means you miss out on loads of bonuses you are entitled to iirc. Can just kick off behind the scenes for the same result, it appears he hasn't done that yet so maybe he is waiting to see if someone he really wants to join will come in for him.

My guess (complete guess as I have no insider knowledge) is that this happened last summer and there is something in the contract he signed that gives him an out clause if a certain level of team bids high enough. I think this is also why he isn't kicking up a huge fuss atm as he knows this will be met at some point.
