err you might wish to consider your view of peoples "worth" if you are going to throw terms like "mong" around considering that to a disabled person will be viewed in the same way as a member of our Pakistani community would view "Paki"

Well actually yes cos i hate the Tory bastards but as an honest opinion he is a non starter yes he was more honest than most during the referendum debate but he wasn't part of the campaign team A Neal etc were talking to him due to his long standing opposition to the EU.
His biggest problem is the mass of the electorate would look/listen to him and go "he has never been anywhere near a real life" and vote for someone else.
He always reminds me of Redwood when he was a candidate for Tory leader -you are not 100% sure they are fully human they seem a bit artificial in the non emotion sense.

Personally i would prefer that our politics moved that way where there was far more real discussion of the issues rather than this pathetic boo hoo politics followed by the desperate buying of the electorate every 5 years but hold out no great hopes

Yeah I said a bit earlier in thread that he doesn't quite have the set of attributes one would normally associate with a party leader but he does have integrity and speaks very well. He's a politician I've got a lot of time for and did even before the EU referendum stuff.

He's very open about being part of the establishment and not having the same experiences as others less fortunate but he's also very down to earth, listens to people and does his best to be a good MP. There is a video of him somewhere being asked the price of bread and milk etc and he gets them all pretty much correct. He's well worth some YouTube time <laugh>

Although you're right I'm not sure everyone would be able to see past his posh voice and incredible use of the English language.

You know full well that I'm not referring to disabled people. Calling someone paki is quite clearly a derogitory term aimed directly at Pakistanis.

where the **** do you think the derogatory term "mong" comes from it is in essence identical to "Paki" a shortened version of a normal word which has become an insult .
I have to say on all the boards on this forum it is normal to see disablist language used regularly and no-one blinks an eyelid yet i see no difference from demeaning language aimed at people because of their racial identity

The difference is that I wasn't aiming it at disabled people was I? Can you think of any common occurence you know where the term paki can be said to someone who isn't pakistani? That's the difference. It can only be used for one purpose or intent.

I was going to say Shut It You Slag, but I was worried you might claim I'm being highly offensive to women lol. Give over Spanish!

TBF that is why it became a derogatory name, thick people were calling all "Asian looking" people paki's and still do.

almost anyone from the same region of Asia is likely to be called Paki .
Lets get this straight you thought calling people "mong" was an insult i.e. they were to be considered like people considered people with downs syndrome years ago

Almost all of those words - moron, cretin, imbecile, even idiot and dunce, have their origins in quite specific descriptions of various levels of intellectual disability.
It's a minefield. Just call them a load of pricks - can probably still get away with that one for a while.
