Think that describes most populations...hence the rise of extreme right and left parties across Europe and Yankland ...people want to believe someone can make it better in an uncomplicated way...They don't want to think it's actually hard work and they have to do their bit as well...
No chance, we've had two referendums in 40 years (on the same issue), it's not like we need them. They wouldn't have any impact on having elections. The rest is interesting but tbh, if this vote had happened a decade ago, we'd have voted Remain by a landslide.
I agree...when we all felt well off and warm and fuzzy (even if it was built on banking lies lol) we would have voted remain overwhelmingly....
I put a EU heart sticker on his locker when I was on nights. They were pissed because one of our conductors went out festooned in Out badges and regalia and a passenger saw it and put his photo on Facebook - then management -rightly - told him to remove all the stuff whilst he was on duty and in the public eye. Evcen though I'm not in the public eye usually, a manager came to our control centre and sheepishly asked me to remove an In badge from the jacket on the back of my chair as they'd complained that we should all be made to remove badges if the conductors were. I laughed and did so.
I think most of the Leavers would admit, albeit reluctantly, that there are some significant factions within their ranks who are extremists and an element they'd rather not be associated with, and they've just found themselves together through common cause. I'd least I'd sincerely hope that that's the case. I can't really imagine any analogous group within the Remain camp, can you? The motivations are different. I'm not talking about a few individuals, but organisations with a clear agenda. Is there an equal and opposite counterpart to, say, the BNP? I'm trying to have a reasonable debate here, btw - and not descend to the yah-boo point scoring stuff we get up to over football.

Really Rees-Mogg is a bit like Corbyn useful for the party as a counter balance to the party machine but as leader - no no no. Well actually yes cos i hate the Tory bastards but as an honest opinion he is a non starter yes he was more honest than most during the referendum debate but he wasn't part of the campaign team A Neal etc were talking to him due to his long standing opposition to the EU. His biggest problem is the mass of the electorate would look/listen to him and go "he has never been anywhere near a real life" and vote for someone else. He always reminds me of Redwood when he was a candidate for Tory leader -you are not 100% sure they are fully human they seem a bit artificial in the non emotion sense. Personally i would prefer that our politics moved that way where there was far more real discussion of the issues rather than this pathetic boo hoo politics followed by the desperate buying of the electorate every 5 years but hold out no great hopes
