Once again, history repeating itself.

In 1936, Germany simply marched their troops into The Rhineland, and anexed it.
Apart from complaining a lot, the rest of Europe did nothing practical.
This was the time when Germany could, (so most military historians claim), be stopped.

You know what came next.

And I have no idea what will come next now.
But I agree 100% with Smug, in that it's by no means CERTAIN that this will pass over.

Sadly this situation has turned out exactly as I feared.

Europe, the USA, etc, are losing their will to keep helping with a situation that looks endless. The Ukrainians are gaining nothing and lives are being lost or destroyed. I said, from the start, that it had to be either one thing or the other, not the situation we currently have.

Either NATO, USA, Europe, UK, etc, immediately get together, send in troops and tell Putin to quit ...

... or put up no resistance and start negotiations on day one.

In my mind the second choice is the best because, however sad for the people, it has to be better than what is happening now.

I tended to agree with you, but then I thought what if it was happening to Britain though?

I understand that but it's more like our relationship with Scotland.

Ukraine and Russia have borders and Ukraine have, at times, been part of Russia.

The people of Scotland have fought, some are still fighting, against the English occupation.

I take your point but it's not quite the same as Britain being invaded by Germany.

I honestly think it's time the worls went in and kicked putins ass all the way to siberia.

We know he's full of **** and will never take on the west. For all his posturing and rhetoric he's omly ever invaded/liberated those who he thought didn't have the strength to fight back.

Put 200,000 NATO soldiers on his borders both East and West and he'd **** his pants

Should've been Day One imo.

This puppet show of using Ukraine to fight Russia is ridiculous ...

... it's like someone hiding behind a fence shouting 'Go on, hit him'.

And while Nato and Russia are slugging it out,the Chinese will be all over us.

I find this a bizarre way to see the situation, huge swathes of Scotland are in fact England in the truest sense. What they are fighting against is bureaucracy and government structure, many English people in England are fighting the same thing.

Kingdom of Northumbria.

I think it's fair to say it's all changed hands many times over the years.

The Borders were, for quite some time, neither English nor Scottish.

Perhaps the Romans knew the difference when they put up a big wall ...

... whatever the case I'm just making the point that Russia occupying a territory previously a part of their nation isn't quite the same as Germany invading Britain.

I'm not even referring to landmass.

Let's say you meet a fella called John Angus Nesbitt from Edinburgh, as Scots as they come, or so he thinks, yet although his entire ancestry for the last 1500 years has been within a 50 mile radius of Edinburgh, he has never had an ancestor who spoke anything other than English. No Gaelic, no Brythonic, no Latin, just English.

Now he rails against England.

I'd never claim to understand the Scots mate ...

Putin signed an international agreement on the boarder of Ukraine In 2014 he ignored the parts of the agreement and occupied parts of Ukraine including Crimea, illegally.
He is know doing that again, illegally taking land from Ukraine and killing thousands of innocent people.
Next in line will be Moldova
