Exactly my point. There has been worse things going on but Palestine gets all the headlines and sympathies because that’s what’s flavour of the month. If it wasn’t Jews involved in it, I doubt Palestine would be getting anymore attention than the likes of Sudan and Yemen.

It’s like people want to forget on October 7th the ‘innocent’ Palestinians were not only celebrating the slaughter of Jews, some of them actually joined in and were helping Hamas. Now they want the world to see them as victims, again.

The only Palestinians I feel sorry for are the babies that are dying. The adults would quite happily watch as every Israeli burned to death or were pushed out of the region. They voted in Hamas who have it in their own charter that they’ll always fight until Israel no longer exists.

Let’s not also forget that tens of thousands of Palestinian men went to fight for ISIS when they were marauding through Iraq and Syria killing everything in sight.

They started this fight, it’s up to Israel when they end it.

Exactly. I wonder if any cabinet minister said to Churchill “I think we’ve killed enough Germans now”. No it was never said. That said, how would the map of Europe look today if Neville “peace for our time” Chamberlain had stayed in power.
There’s a phrase I said to my son. You have to stand for something or you will fall for anything. I stand for democracy. Another phrase and I can’t remember who said it is, to have peace you have to plan for war.

    Yep.

They’re still firing rockets into Israel from Gaza but our media doesn’t feel like that’s newsworthy for some reason…

Israel have been pretty much constantly attacked for the past 70-80 years or whatever it is. Sometimes by surrounding nations getting together and having a go at them. Most of the time it’s Hezbollah and Hamas at the borders. The last 20 years, they’ve averaged firing more than 1,000 missiles a year into Israel. I don’t see how Israel aren’t justified in doing whatever they think they’ve got to do, to make sure they’re safe and protected from being constantly attacked.

Poland have shot down Russian drones in their airspace.

This happened during the latest Russian attack across Ukraine, where the air raid began before midnight, with warnings of at least 100 drones in the air - and of Russia preparing missiles for launch.

Then, as Ukrainians took to shelters underground, the online channels that they watched began reporting several of those drones crossing into Poland.

They began writing in Polish, warning people there to take cover. “Chelm – to the shelters!” , “Zamosc – into the shelters!”

This feels like an escalation by Moscow - testing the West’s response. Because it appears its drones didn’t just stray into Poland.

They went deep enough for even Warsaw airport to be closed.

And it’s happening as the aerial attacks on Ukraine have become far bigger - and more frequent.

Then last weekend, a Russian missile hit the main government building here. Before that, the EU and British Council buildings in Kyiv were damaged.

Russian drones have crossed Ukraine’s western border before. A Russian missile even landed in a forest once, but didn’t detonate.

In 2022, two villagers were killed close to the border, apparently after Ukrainian air defence downed a missile. So the Polish air force now scrambles, whenever the threat gets close.

But they’ve never shot anything down before. So this is new territory for Poland – and for Nato.

The world keeps electing dangerous people. Democracy should be a safeguard but isn’t because voters make bad decisions or don’t vote., Starmer is an authoritarian for a Labour PM but Farage woukd make us part of the international national psycho club. Don’t vote Farage.

Afghan women have been forced into solitary confinement in their homes. They've been kicked out of jobs and education. All social activities for women and girls banned. Not allowed out without a male chaperone and must be fully covered so they cannot be seen. They have difficulty accessing services like medical care. Windows have to be covered so they cannot be seen in their homes. Not allowed to speak in public. They're basically slaves to men kept in their homes.

Hardly anything has been said about this and people don't seem to care. Or they say this is how they live and it's normal for them. It's not normal. Before the Taliban, while their values are more conservative than the UK, they still had the freedoms to be educated, work and socialise like ordinary people. I really feel for Afghan women.

When the mainstream political parties consistently and over a prolonged period let their citizens down, it is no wonder that the same citizens begin to question it.
Here’s an example. The current government have said they want asylum seekers out of hotels. Great. Yet when a court says to Epping Council, you can remove them, the same government who said that they want the asylum seekers out of hotels have lodged an appeal to keep them there.
I honestly have no idea if Reform will be better than Labour or the Tories. But the voting public seem to think they will.

Definitely will, I agree. He won’t be able to do it.

I also agree with you about the NHS although it does need to be massively reformed as it’s on its knees at the moment.

The world is so messed up right now. Never in my lifetime has it been more dangerous and unpredictable. Its as if the leaders around the world have come together to form some kind of perfect storm. The hope is we all get through this to see them all replaced by grown ups. Alas, that's not gonna happen anytime soon with the likes of Trump, Putin, Xi, Un, Meloni, Orban, and likes of Farage, le Pen, AfD in Germany etc etc waiting in the wings ... We are in for a turbulent time going forward.

Four years for him to start talking about anything other than boats. We could start with his tax affairs and then move on to how he’d deal with his great mate and former patron, Vladimir.

I’m guessing you work in the NHS, so you will know the pressure more than most.

NHS is overwhelmed, the money spent on translators is eye watering, immigration is responsible for this both legal and illegal, we have people refusing to integrate but happy to use the NHS that require translators. A simple appointment becomes far more expensive, an NHS translator is paid around 35K a year, thats one language, each hospital could require umpteen translators. It needs overhauling quickly and has been failed by the tories and labour for years.

The government do want the asylum seekers out of hotels, any government would ...

... what would you have done in that instance?

    What would Farage do?
