But, unlike Argentina and Germany, we didn’t., Anyone in Holland having a meltdown because they have 3 points after 2 games?
you're the only person who takes notice of fifa rankings and you seem obsessed with them belgium are like top 2 and how? reached no finals, won nothing it's a load of **** germanys generation of winners retired and peaked and they are a few years away from being a top team again hence why they won't get out of the groups for a second world cup in a row
why would netherlands? who went without even qualifying for ahwile, after their peak generation retired they are happy to be competing again
Not having a meltdown. I would like to see us go for it, to be as good as we could be, not the boring negative crap we saw tonight. Southgate is a dour boring negative manager
Didn’t suggest you were. But plenty on social media and in comments on papers certainly are. Then there are the sad bastards who would rather we fail than have success.
I don't know how people can be arsed to keep pushing this narrative. It's so popular but so tiresome. Sometimes you don't score because the other team defend well. Sometimes you can just have off days. Why is it impossible to believe it could be anything other than the manager being negative? A 0-0 is dull yes, but they do happen in the real world. Our previous game had 8 goals in it. If our bad days are 0-0 draws then we'll do pretty well. The other favourite narrative of course is "why didn't he put Player X on". We have a lot of talented players and we're never going to fit them all on the pitch at once, so someone very good is always going to have to be left out. We really could do to learn to accept that instead of constantly clamouring for whoever doesn't get picked.
It felt like a game where we really have to respect the point. We were off it but over the course of the 90 mins, they only really created one chance (McKennie one). It was a game of next to nothing really. We've qualified fundamentally too so it's job done after 2 games and a clean sheet is pleasing.
A poor performance but a point gained, and unbeaten at the top of the group. Time to properly judge Southgate when we're in the knock out stages. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
Well, that wasn't worth waking up in the middle of the night to watch. I quietly half expected a performance like that, I've seen so many City and England games over the years, and often following a big win with lots of goals, the next game is just like that #afterthellordmayorshow. USA set up very well, with no room between the lines both horizontally or vertically, defended well, and broke with pace. Saka was awful and Trippier was not much better, Mount offered nothing as did Sterling. Harry Maguire was MOM by a country mile, with Stones next in line. These games happen in tournaments, in some ways better to have it against a team like USA is better than having it against a better side when you would get punished. Respect the point and move on. Though why Foden is not playing is beyond me. Let's now send the Welsh home packing.
In the cold light of day and after allowing myself a period of cooling down, that's a reasoned and sensible post...A rarity in your case
