4 points after two games isn’t the end of the world at all. The manner of the performance is worrying though. It’s not like we battered them and couldn’t put it away. They created the better chances. When you consider that not one of their starting 11 would even be on the plane for us, it obviously comes down to attitude and application.
That period where they pinned us in our own half for about 15 minutes was diabolical. If you compared them to a club side it would be top end of champ/lower prem. There’s no way they should be dominating any periods of the game against us.

He has turned down a £200,000 a week contract offer. Wants parity with Raheem Sterling. Football continues its descent into insanity.

Sterling did nothing of note last night either. Was dropping deep to get the ball and cut inside. That’s fine if the centre forward is looking to make runs in behind but Kane doesn’t. 2 out of the forward 3 drop deep to receive the ball. Saka’s the only one looking to be played in behind. Says a lot when Kane is picking the ball from deep and trying to put a cross in to nobody instead of being on the end of it.

Southgate needs to try something different against Wales. Foden in for Mount and maybe Grealish for Sterling.

Also, saw a video on TikTok from an England fan who said England were playing the occasion, not the game last night. That’s spot on and the exact same against Scotland last summer in the Euros. Against Iran it was fluid and positive football. Against the likes of USA and Scotland, we revert to this overly-cautious style of play and you can sense the nerves and tension from the players. They’re terrified of making a mistake in a game hyped up by the media and pundits.

England have shown they can rise to the occasion in big games against ‘rivals’ like Germany in the Euros last summer. They just need to be more positive and fearless against other teams.

Flying back from Spain on World Cup final day.. **** sake !!! If England get there I may miss the flight lol

Rice has also been poor.
Our problem was in midfield. The USA wanted the ball more and won the duel with Bellingham and Rice who on a number of occassions lost the ball due to the ferocious pressing of the USA ; thats why Henderson was brought on. At that point along with Grealish the game changed somewhat in favor of England. Think we were playing a 2 in midfield with Mount in a free role. Might be better to play a straight 4 3 3 to beef up the midfield with perhaps Madison if he is fit? Or start with Hendewrso. But I doubt Southgate would do that.
Kane and company struggled at the front and on many occasions failed to beat their man or failed to find a pass. This was testament to a very good USA defense.
The pressing of the USA was excellent and and continuous, City could take some lessons from it.

This Yank is very happy with the way our boys played and very happy with the point. Our destiny is in our hands. Win against Iran and advance.

Mason Mount is probably the most overrated English midfielder since Jack Wilshere. Foden is light years ahead of him.

People so often say overrated when they surely don't mean that.

Mount is really played down if anything, he's won big trophies, performs well in a top team at club and national level, scores and assists plenty of goals but for some reason has this reputation as a limited, unsexy player which I think is really unfair. To call him overrated seems absurd to me.

If anyone is overrated currently it's the Fodens or Maddisons - the ones who are constantly clamoured for because they don't play currently, despite never having done much for England in the past. Foden is obviously a great player but he's never done it for England yet and he can't just command an automatic place when we have so many other top quality players in his position.

I mean Foden starts for the best team in England under the best manager in the world. I don’t think Southgate not fancying him is a valid reason for calling him overrated.

I think he's in overrated territory with England fans because he's in that zone where he's not playing so therefore he's the answer to everything and so much better than those who are playing. We do this time and time again and never seem to grow beyond it. Last summer it was Grealish and Sancho. Now they're not exciting and new any more so we've moved on to Maddison, and whilst he's injured it's Foden. If Bellingham wasn't starting he'd be the answer. These are all top quality players who can't all play at once, which we should be seeing as a good thing.
