USA were pretty good, they'd done their homework, neutralised us. We were poor, no movement, imagination or ability to adjust to the circumstances. Seen it before.

USA were well organised. With their players playing abroad they are constantly improving. As time goes by with all the immigrants to the USA from places with a football background who see a means of escaping hardship they will get better. If the Americans then start ploughing money into it they could really become a force. Same applies to rugby, both codes if they put their mind to it.

Southgate needs to drop this False 9 stuff with Kane and play him as a proper striker. He drops deep to do Mount’s job for him and ends up getting in the way, then when one of the wingers looks up to cross, there’s no **** in the box because our striker is closer to the halfway line than the opposition’s box.
Bang on. Either get Kane up front and out of the way or drop him. Southgate must be letting him do it. Please god him dropping that deep is not a tactic.

So, played 2 and not beaten. Germany and Argentina who have lost to teams ranked lower than the ones we have played would swap places with us. And their fans won’t be having nervous breakdowns as much as ours.

They were very well organised , outplayed and out-thought us and if they'd have grabbed a winner late on we would've had no qualms. That's why it's worrying and disappointing.

There are teams in this tournament who will play with even more intensity and nous and if we can't cope with the USA we won't go much further. As others have said, what does Phil Foden need to do to get into the starting line -up?

I wouldn't say anyone is 'having a nervous breakdown' as such but it's hugely disappointing with the squad of players we have that we can't break down a team that presses us.

I wasn’t referring to people on here particularly but to those commenting elsewhere. Of course we have more sad bastards than any other country whose greatest wish is for the man’s football team. Though they wet themselves over the Lionesses and want the rugby and cricket teams to do well.

The problem is Southgate continues to focus more on stopping the opposition rather than on getting the best out of our talent. We see it time and again and we hear it in his interviews, like the post match one tonight. He is not the one to get the best out of the exciting talent we have.

Agreed.

What would have happened tonight if we'd have went out and got in their faces?Hasn't he got the brains to work that out?

What would have happened if we had done that and got caught out with breakaways like Wales did?Or German or Argentina? It is a long haul not a knockout competition at this stage. Unless we lose to Wales 4-0, and nobody would bet their next month’s wages on that happening we are through. More highly fancied countries wish they were in the same situation.

Agree with others Mount poor. Also thought Bellingham did not live up to his billing. Mcguire had a good game. Grealish made a difference when he came on. He must have drawn at least 7 or 8 fouls 2 of which led to good set piece opportunities.
The USA played well as a whole and deserved their draw. They won the midfied battle most of the time.
It was illuminating to see they subed someone who plays for Norwich while we had a Manchester City regular twiddling his thumbs on the bench-Foden.
Southgate will have been happy with the draw as he said often its not about winning every game at this stage its about progressing to the last 16.
After Germany play there next game even if they win we still will be in a better situation than them with our 4 points and decent goal difference

not sure why you think germany are a top team
they haven't been for 6 or so years

We came close to losing tonight!!
