It would take a lot of money to replace Roberts, just don't get all the criticism he gets, if he's not directly involved, ( ie showing in stats as assist or goal people have a go at him. Without realising that a lot of goals he is involved in the build up to the goal

The problem for me is that while he does ok generally he could and should do a lot better. Misses virtually every chance he gets and he gets his fair share. Attacks break down too often when he's on the ball.

Clarke, Mundle and Watson have all clearly shown what we're missing on the opposite wing.

That run in the team early on last season when Roberts was injured he was actually pretty good. The narrative turned to him being ‘another failed foreign transfer by Speakman’ but the truth is he’s contributed from time to time and hasn’t cost us much money.

Agree with this mind, think a lot forgot that period, looked like he could give roberts challenge for position....all went wrong when we forced him up top & missed that big chance blazing over the bar....then we tried him on the left & he was really poor but we kept trying it....he just wasnt a good fit out there & kept saying to those around me, swap him over with robwrts & let him have a go back on the right.....im a disappointed as there us a player there & in part negativity of last season has made it not work here

What a sad post!!

Maybe OTT with the golden boy comment but the that's about it.

He went down pretending to be injured earlier in the season when we conceded a penalty.

I am not a fan of all the antics that go on in a match, which includes the stuff Luke does.

We’ve learnt lessons from the past and not paying over the top for players.

13m for a player in this window is crazy. Also paying 50k a week in wages is outrageous for a club in the EFL.

it’s a risky game SU are playing as if they don’t go up, they will probs have sell most of them otherwise they’ll get hit again with ffp stuff

Especially when he's likely having to be replaced in the Prem.

I like Cannon, think he would do well here. Club obviously do too. That said, I don't think they will be matching the spending of Sheffield United (rightly so). Package will be a fortune.

Personally I’d be outraged if we paid close to double what they paid for him, for a player they deemed not good enough even in a poor side.

Goes against everything the club does well. If we miss out as we as a club say ‘that’s getting silly now’ then I back that stance.

If we get him on our terms, and we only pay it if we get a massive influx of cash from promotion, then that flips and it’s really smart from the club.

I just don’t see how his value has rocketed by having a steady season, where beneath the numbers almost half are pens. He would absolutely get more chances to score here and I get that argument.

I’ve said a few times; we’ve seen played him a few times and I’ve never seen anything that’s really hooked me. Good player yeah, certainly nothing that’s made me wish he was ours.

This ‘championship experience’ people crave seems to come at a premium, can see why shopping abroad appeals to so many clubs now

So where do we all think we still need to strengthen?

For me I think we should be looking for a left back and right back, Hume and Cirkin haven’t looked the same this year and we are weak behind them.

Wilder and the board at SU are playing Russian Roulette with the club... Put all their chips on these players, with absolutely no guarantee it will work out. More than happy with our recruitment team
