Also couldn’t care less if he’s turned us down in the past. Let’s not pretend we were the ideal first choice for all our players. I doubt Isidor was dreaming of joining Sunderland a year ago.

all that matters is what they do when they’re here.
Bang on

Kaboul turned us down years before eventually signing and doing a cracking job

I would be all over Cannon personally. I think he is a superb fit for us. I think his ceiling is so very high too. £13m, if we hit all targets to trigger add ons, which you would imagine includes survival in the prem could look cheap.

Cannon is a really really good finisher. Always has been. His junior level records were great. He looks as good with his left and right foot. He is instinctive in the box and his movement is really top notch in the box. You can guarantee he will create his own space and we seem to assembling a squad built to find him.

The other thing I like is his physical strength. He looks really good back to goal, and he isnt afraid to bully centre halves.

A couple of caps for Ireland and will know Alan Browne really well. I read some suggestions he has turned us down in the past. I dont think that is true and I think he would come here if the chance presented itself.

I would be generally thrilled if he landed. And really excited by what he would bring to the team.

Ok U changed my mind. I'll get excited instead of concerned <laugh>

13m if true is a bargain if he helps get us up. Haven’t really watched much of him, but we do need extra quality over there to push isidor. A like Mayenda, just can’t be relied on

Can someone explain where he plays?

we line up 442 out of possession which slot is he taking?

do we play 2 strikers?
Does isidor become a left forward?
Does this simply add depth and allow us to chop and change?

I can’t imagine a world where le fee, isidor and cannon don’t start if he signs and don’t know how to fit them all in

first world problems I presume

FWIW I don’t know what he’s worth but it’s an exciting time to be a Sunderland fan, they’ve signed some duds but that’s part of the game, importantly signed more good than bad and that’s good enough for me

Personally think we might see Isidor move out to the left until Mundle is back. After that Cannon will be a sub. Unless he’s scoring for fun.

(also need to keep reminding myself that so far it’s just Nixon)

We won't fit them all in to the starting line up but I think that's the point

It's about having another option off the bench and rotating the squad throughout

We need the squad to challenge for top 2 and Cannon massively improves our squad imo

Would then need a RM (Vale) and LB (unsure on this one yet)

Let Regis worry about that mate, we just need to enjoy the ride imo

The amount of people talking like anyone not in the starting XI if everyone is fit is basically a waste and may as well be dead is hilarious. I have some big news for them about Rigg.

Yeah they’ve earned a good amount of trust, and the numbers from Nixon aren’t reliable. Still, they aren’t infallible. And I reflexively dislike ‘win now’ moves that hamper us if we do get promotion. I’d argue Cannon is comfortably the most risky of our buy now pay later deals.
I’d agree it’s risky but with a young English forward if he starts scoring for us the rewards could be massive

They aren't the best at keeping in line with PSR rules. They probably need to sell to buy themselves a bit of time.

May as well sell someone who's currently out on loan, than someone currently in their first team.

Could be any number of reasons I suppose. Probably they rate their existing strikers as more suitable to their style of play. Note also he was signed by Maresca, who is doing a fine job at Chelsea. Since then it has been Cooper and Van Nistelrooy. Not all coaches see players in the same way. Maresca seemed to think he was worth a 5 year deal at the time.
