Not sure Brighton are going to stop there mind. Still a good bit of the day to go for things to change
That remains to be seen tbh, still time ... ... if he's staying that means any interest in Clarke will be dropped.
I tend to view the run-in as a time to avoid dropping completely fresh defenders in. Most of the time these last few games are gonna be about grinding it out defensively. With Ballard, Seelt and Hjelde sat ready to step into the back four I'd be happy enough that we've got enough. Basically we'd be looking at four further defensive injuries/suspensions before any new defender would be used. And if we've had four defensive injuries we're in trouble regardless.
The tweet from someone earlier today said Brighton needed to give us Adingra or up their bid. Perhaps Adingra is definitely not happening so this "deal off" has been leaked by us (I think KLD and Romano are linked). To basically force them to up their bid
We would still need another body on the left if Watson was to go. Can't see him going if we can't get anyone in
I'd like a mystery signing just for the suspense but honestly I'm happy. We appear to have got our backup forward in and not lost anyone. I have minor quibbles regarding the wingers and full backs but I don't think, with players coming back, its a massive issue.
You sure? We've no idea what Sunderland would accept but the amount suggested is quite a lot for someone so young and inexperienced ... ... fair play to Speakman especially when people are still claiming they know our 'model' is bring them in and sell them on. We could sell half the club, at huge profits, but that really isn't happening even when the player seems to be open to it. Watson's agent and others, won't be a happy man at the rate.
I would be keen on the McAteer deal personally. I have seen him a lot at youth level at Leicester. He had a really big reputation with them. I always liked his pace and his decision making as a young lad. He has a lot of attributes I think Regis will love. He is quick for starters. He often appears into play from nowhere and defenders have simply not read it. He always has his head up. He will always look for that pass when he has it, keeping the thing moving really well. He would relish playing in the triangles Regis encourages. Defensively he grafts well. He is half decent in the air and takes some knocking about, he is a strong lad. He isnt a bad finisher either. He could be better in that sense, but he isnt a snatcher of chances by any means. I get he hasnt set the premier league alight. But I dont think it is true he isnt good enough for the level. Leicester have been a basket case on the pitch this season, particularly since Van Nistelrooy landed.
Someone on there calling the club turning our offer down 'asset stripping'. Gotta love football fan forum cliches.
£8m upfront. 35% sell-on. £1m after every 15 first team appearances, upto 90 appearances (£6m). £1m after 5 first team goals, upto 30 goals (£6m). £1m after domestic cup final appearance. £1m after Premiership top-10 finish. £500k after first England u21 cap. £1m after first England full cap. £1m if the player is named in the England squad for a major tournament (world cup/euros) £500k for every new contract signed with Brighton. Annual payment of £250k each and every year Watson is a Brighton player (1st of July). And maybe then we can sit and discuss it.
