I think there is a ‘way’ of British managers and historical habits are hard to break. I think Spekmans been good, but it could also be how it’s delivered. Imagine Brian Clough with Speakman

I don't think Clough and Speakman would have got on but in reality Clough worked to a similar system. Peter Taylor identified the signings and Clough wasn't as effective without him. They just didn't use the same job titles we've got now.

I think Brian Clough wouldn’t have entertained the idea and would have been a non starter. I was pleased with how both Neil and especially Mowbray progressed the team but then both started whinging publicly about the way the model works. If they didn’t want to work under that structure, maybe they shouldn’t have taken the job in the first place. Funny how principles go out the window when they need a job and there’s a pay cheque on offer.

I suppose it’s the “manager vs head coach” thing. Clough would’ve needed full autonomy on transfers etc. It’s the model most clubs use now

Its a other reason why I would like see us to play with only 2 up front , Clarke ,Rusyn and or Adil are tailor made for it Not to mention Bennette and Roberts, we are really spoilt for choice. It would also provide an for extra cover at the back , a major factor in our last game was we were to open . In short play like we did against Leeds, I thought we had turned a corner after that game , sadly , rightly or wrongly, it appears to have been into a a blind alley. ?

Totally counter-productive if I’m honest, same with the lad from Wimbledon who’s been mentioned. We’ve got young lads who’ve played football at a similar level who are struggling for game time why bring in more? <doh>

One I would consider though is Divin Mubama from West Ham if they’re serious about Clarke would be rude not to try. Rejected their contract offers so far and looks like he’s got some real potential. Big f*cker anarl.

Or, to play devils advocate, Mowbray was happy with the model as sold. He came and did his job, got great results and achieved immediate ambitions. Then they hit a point, at which he thinks the players he is given wont allow him to hit the targets the club place on him for the next season. As a coach he judges players and thinks they arent yet going to achieve what his bosses tells him his target is. In that circumstance I can see why he might be a bit defensive and grumbling. Supporters often, in my experience, think players are better than they are and often criticise a coaches tactics. I wonder how many of those have the expertise to criticise a coaches tactics in all seriousness. We can ponder and argue and debate whether a coach has run out of ideas, hit a wall, or is old fashioned. It is all just speculation though, and unless we have walked in their shoes that is all it really can be, speculation and opinions, never facts.

The ****e they coming out with about ‘we can’t spend’

How? They have spent a few quid but v PL income. Then they have their 2 snide sponsorships on the short and sleeve.

No way they don’t have FFP space what they mean is ‘this is investment fund money and we can’t just spend it’.

Cos, well, you can’t. It’s not their money is it?

Warren Buffet doesn’t own all the money in his hedge fund does he? This is no different.

The CEO of Barclays doesn’t have all their customer s balances to dip.

Am not buying that they can’t spend. I’m seeing that they don’t want to.
