There is a type of player emerging here - hard working, aggressive, experienced at the level. The first two characteristics match how Selles had Reading set up.

I can see the wisdom in that approach, even if we may not be convinced by every individual we are linked to. It worked a treat for Warren Joyce 25 years ago.

Cornick is a player we've been linked to before.

Paterson is just somebody else who would be available for cheap and has lots of Championship experience, chipping in with goals too.
