Good job, both kids in Uni, excellent index linked pension, house paid for, not bad for a lad from a council estate. Just goes to show put in a little effort and you can reap rewards in this wonderful country. Or you can be like aber, who started sweating at the word effort and rolled another spliff. The American government should also be put on trial then. Not only have they spied on their own, but it is also been alleged that they have tapped the offices of European and South American countries. Snowden should be saluted for bringing to light this criminal activity by the American government. You talk about free speech gendros, but when somebody blows the whistle on illegal/criminal activity within a secret service agency, of one of the worlds most powerful nations, then you say he is a traitor and should be put on trial. Should the head of the agency involved, or Obama (the commander in chief) be put on trial for the illegal invasion of privacy that has happened here?
If you want to talk about an American going on trial, then maybe Bush jr and his sidekick Blair should be put on trial for their WMD 'myth' that led to an illegal invasion of Iraq, and the deaths of thousands of soldiers and innocent civilians
I didn't realise Cardiff was so full of paranoid green smokers, I personally don't mind the 'intrusion' as I trust that the people who do the 'spying' have my interests at heart, my protection and even more so my family's protection. These agencies are protectin g us and our way of life from those who would bring it down. It seems some have something to hide, me there is nothing to hide. Snow den has put his country at risk and should be brought to a fair trail and sentenced according to the law. I saw at first hand what Saddam did to Kuwait, I've seen footage of what that brute did to the Kurds, what do you suggest, we let him get away with that and hold the whole of the Western world to ransom by stealing the oil and uping prices? Our attitude changed towards him AFTER he refused to allow a US base of operations be installed on his borders and, in his lunatic mind, far too close to his southern oil fields for comfort. Lots happened after that all leading to the Kuwait war where the west semi went to war against him.....
....but let him off the hook, we let him go.
Still the atrocities continued and still we heard them but did nothing for years against Saddam until, that is, years after the act he decided he wanted back the oilfields he lost in the aftermath of the Kuwait war.
This time Saddam made an error of judgment, he assumed his survival of the Kuwait war was down to his superior military mind and not due to the incompetence of the 'Private' agencies that ran the war in Kuwait; Our military were directed by our Government to take direct orders from these non aligned, private agencies.
Within a year of Saddam threatening the flow of oil within his region his county was placed under international, unilateral, trade sanctions directly leading to the death from malnutrition, sickness and infection, of hundreds of thousands of innocent men, women and CHILDREN, that's children just like yours buddy.
After years of ignoring his atrocities, after years of state visits, him to here, Royalty to there, him to the USA, US president (3 of them) to there, and PM (4 of them) to there, after decades of cheek clenching Détente the only reason our attitude changed was because the flow of the oligarchs oil was threatened.
.......and the rest is history, towers fell, wars began, camps opened, rendition sanctioned, innocents kidnapped and some killed on London tubes. Since then the sanctity and rite to freedom which every ones God gives us all at birth has been violated, raped and twisted beyond that of any Orwellian fiction. Our natural born rites and freedoms have gone, never to be return to me or my children unless....??
