It depends wether he has ambitionChelsea are still paying him off, so why would he want to lose that by taking a job in a lower division?
If he has, it'll be in the Prem or a top flight abroad. He'll see City as too much of a backwards step. If he didn't he'd have been back in by now, he won't have been short of offers to take bigger clubs than us.It depends wether he has ambition
Premier league top 6 budget payment for manager and championship team manager budget is too far apart to ignore just because of ambition. Only a PL club can convince him, with probably long term contract that will cover his losses. It depends wether he has ambition
I wasn't completely saying he should come here but at what point do you jump back in .Premier league top 6 budget payment for manager and championship team manager budget is too far apart to ignore just because of ambition. Probably amount he receives from new club covers amount he will receive from Chelsea or at least some part of it. That's why I said long-term contract, if he has remaining 2 years 10 million from Chelsea, he might accept 7 million 4 years offer.I wasn't completely saying he should come here but at what point do you jump back in .
If he's getting well paid not to work for say 4 years it would prob be too late then in to jump back in
We will never know.
But under a different manager - why couldn't that be Kamara, Bedia, Pedro, Mehlem and Omur (given we have lost Belloumi and Millar unexpectedly - I'd have them in there too).
They have no worse records than the previously mentioned players? How do we know they aren't being held back?
The short answer is - we don't unless the system changes or the manager changes. I just don't think its as simple as saying its not as good a squad as last season. We know about last season's squad with hindsight. This seasons squad is yet to be determined.
I'm not saying it's not as good a squad as last season. That's not the point. In some respects, it's actually more balanced, and has more depth.
I agree that we just don't know if they are being held back, and won't know unless the system or manager changes. In fact I've said I think they probably are.
BUT all that doesn't change the simple point that there just aren't goals in this squad.
I'd play Kamara and Bedia.
Then you name Pedro, Mehlem and Omur as examples of where goals may come from.
They've all 3 played under other managers, not just Walter, in the reference periods I'm using. They aren't young kids (like Jaden, Delap, etc), they're 25, 27 and 32. Their records are:
Pedro 6 in 53 (4 of which are from 2-3 years ago)
Mehlem 3 in 21
Omur 0 in 33 (including time under Rosenior and in Turkey). Nil. Zilch.
They are just not going to score consistently. It isn't going to happen. Just like the rest of our squad. It's an absolutely shocking oversight from the 'brains trust' and I honestly can't believe others aren't as gobsmacked as I am on seeing the scoring stats of our squad. Maybe that's part of why Acun appears to be holding on until January, being that he realises Tan and team have sold Walter short (I'm NOT excusing Walter for **** tactics etc).

You're right. If the Allams had just backed phelan in the summer window we might have won the league.

Are we just horrible bastards? Because everybody keeps saying they have sympathy for the manager, but he built this squad, he's responsible for the output.
If I ran a team in an office and they put out a **** report, the business owner might say "well, two of them were off sick so I can sympathise, but your team still lost us money and you were running them so... here's a Rolex and a picture of a spitfire and off you trot."
This is the only thing I can think Walter has as a defence. I know its the stat everyone loathes on here but by xG we should be about midtable. Sadly we can't finish.

I think that passes the eye test too. We are getting into decent positions but finding an increasingly bizarre series of ways to not score. That was definitely the case on Saturday. Bad luck and rather average forward players, a potent mixture. This is the only thing I can think Walter has as a defence. I think Pedro is a bit like Cousin or Folan. In a good season they might nab ten goals. Pedro when he has the ball does look a level above - there was a pass in the Luton game that was insanely good, but the service just isn't there for him.
You keep repeating the same points and keep ignoring the question about how that compares to last season's squad which similarly had no goals to their names. Connolly's best goal scoring spell in his entire career came last season for us, as did Tufan's, as did Carvalho's (on a per game basis), as did Philogene's as did Delap's. It shows that what came before can be largely irrelevant if the manager gets the best out of their players and uses them in the right ways.
I'm not talking about Pedro necessarily who I agree was a desperation signing, but what about Kamara, Burstow, Puerta, Jarvis, coupled with Bedia and Palmer being used in better roles. We can say "Well they're not goalscorers there's no point trying" or we can try something different and see what happens. Hell even through Longman in there who can go through purple patches of scoring.
When they arrived I'm sure people scorned the Connolly signing as someone who couldn't score goals (I know you certainly did) and he finished close to our top scorer.
