Yep We had a poll on here and most said mid table Here we are in mid table Yet we wanna sack him after 13 games
My point is you can, in fact, make an assessment of a manager at this stage of the season. Shota was long gone by this stage two seasons ago. Not sure why the prickly reply.
Someone - I think it was Peterborough - were once relegated with 54 points. 53 would probably see us finish 18th / 19th
If we’re on course for 53 points already and this is the worst we’ll ever be, wouldn’t it make sense to keep him in charge longer? 4 or 5 extra wins puts you in a play off spot.
No,not solid mid-table,19th last season... Tim Walter was brought in to entertain us and improve on Rosenior. If we plod away at 1.15 points a game,as opposed to Roseniors 1.52,it would indicate a drop in standard. That doesn't tie in with the owners aspirations, nor does it excite the 20,000 or so paying supporters.53 points would be a poor return on his investment and would see a drop in revenue(due to lower attendances). Surely you want more than 1.15 points a game?
I really wanted Walter to work with him being German, but I miss Rosey, Rosey had us in the right track, and Acun has ****ed up big time by sacking Rosey.
Of course I want more but I believe we’ll get more by sticking with him rather than sacking him. It’s way too early for that.
I think at this point in time he's hanging by a thread on a game to game basis.Every time we fail to put our opponent's to the sword(ie:-Yesterday) his position is becoming more precarious, the owner looks unhappy with what he's seeing at present,he's irrational at the best of times and I suspect he'll want to see marked improvement before the international break. If not,I think he'll pull the plug, his Club, his call? After that mini-run of 3 wins on a trot,a lot of us saw a glimmer of hope,it turned out a flash in the pan and we've reverted to type? It's fair to say that we're all pulling in the one direction in terms of results, hopefully Tuesday night sees 3 points and a performance to match!! UTT.
I’m of the opinion that anything less than last season’s 1.52 points/game would be a drop in standard. That’s the benchmark he should be judged against. The “more entertaining” aspect could mitigate against the points total but again this hasn’t materialised in any way, shape or form. He’s failed, I’m sure there’s only one man’s ego keeping him here, for now.
Genuine question, if that's your benchmark, would you be calling for LRs head now if he had stayed and managed the same points total Tim has so far?
I don’t agree with that measure, Ben. Even if Liam had stayed, we still would have lost key players like Greaves, Philogene, Tufan, and the significant loan players like Delap. This would have required a major squad overhaul too, which means any fair 'hypothetical' evaluation of Liam’s performance this season would need to account for the high player turnover. So, in my view, expecting Rosenior to finish at least 7th this season would have been unfair as well. Expecting Walter to achieve a 7th-place finish under similar/harder circumstances isn’t realistic if we're being fair. I think Rosenior was treated poorly by the Club and some of the fans. Doing this to Walter won't correct anything.
He may well have been, but if he was still here with this squad and this points total, would you be calling for his head?
