He's probably given the lad a heads up that he's his plan b option, or C, or T, but it'd have probably been beneficial to have him in working with your lads like Pienaar was, even if he was gonna be dispatched like N'Zogbia was.

Most probably mate, yeah. in fact definitely would have. in his interview he mentions he's been training in the states or summat, but training on your own is nowt like full team training.

As per nads, there's nowt stopping us getting in bendtner short-term too, for an extra option up top. Doubt we'll do it, but you never know.

I dont believe for one second he is anything more than a panick buy.

DM would have been chasing other targets. When they all failed he opted for anchovy as it represents the least risk for him given he knows him well.

I think panic is a bit strong, as he knows the lad.

Certainly a 'needs must' though in my eyes.

If he truly fancied the lad it would have been done sooner and he'd have been integrated to squad.

Dunno about training in the states but I know he's been training at Knutsford FC as my mate sees him out on the field on his own, without fail, every day.

I've just read he's 28 years old and he has scored 24 goals in his whole career :emoticon-0184-tmi:

I know we have Defoe but I'd still expect a forward to have a better record than nearly 1 goal in every 8 games. He scored 6 goals in 55 games for WBA.

Blind faith on this one. I think he's absolute garbage, so that's how I'm calling it, until I'm proved wrong.

24 goals and classed as a forward<laugh>.

Stevie Wonder on a skateboard would probably do better.

Hopefully he is coming into his purple patch.

My guess is that his stats will be distorted by the amount of substitute appearances he's mate. He's never been a first team regular if I'm remembering correctly.

I'd prefer if there was a stat for goal per minute.

Still not hanging my hat on him mind you.

Just checked his appearance/goal stats.

He started 83 games in the league and 103 sub appearances for Everton and West Brom combined.

If we guess that each sub appearance is on average 20 mins each (max) you could say that's almost 23 extra games (cumulative).

So 24 league goals in 106 (cumulative) appearances, games per goal 4.4. As opposed to 24 league goals 186 appearances, appearances per goal 7.75.

Maybe I'm clutching at straws a bit here but it's quite harsh to judge him on cameo appearances which probably only lasted 5 mins IMO.

While you're clutching at straws you can bring that average down more by looking at all the games he started but didn't finish and doing that cumulative thing again <ok>

Why so many as sub. No idea who kept him out of those 2 teams?

I'm judging him on his performances I've seen throughout his career. He's absolute horseshit. WBA wouldn't have released him for no reason.

He was in the US in July, training. Back to blighty and training at Knutsford as of August.

Interesting in his official vid, first 18 seconds, he says ..."i've known this for a while now...". ie about joining SAFC.

Tells you it is not simply a last minute thing. Makes you wonder just how long he has known....

I must have missed that bit. I just know he was banging on about his lack of motivation, which has been apparent throughout his career.
