i just listened to it again, to check i hadn't mis-heard/made-up the training in the US bit. when he says the above, it stood out. to me anyway... and he's clearly been chatting to other players he knows at the club. Moyes has to do dome major work with our forwards, like. Anichebe to believe Januzaj to apply himself/cheer up Khazri to slim down, and Watmore to shut the barn door! Thank **** for Jermain, eh.
But late to the party on this one but I can't believe he's only 28! Seems to have been around longer than drogba!!!! Gaffer knows him. He's a position we desperately needed and, chances are, it's been something that Moyes has known about which is why we didn't concentrate as hard on a striker in the window. He's a unit as well. If Moyes can get the best out of him then I'll be happy
If you round the stats to the closest decimal point he gets 1 goal in 4, that's actually not bad. If Moyes gets the best out of him then this could be a great saving. We spent good money in Graham, Altidore and Fletcher all who did not really cut it, maybe this option is a better way of working.
How did you work that out, mate? How did you find out exactly how many games he's started as a forward? Regardless lads, I'm not just going off his stats. He has only ever been average, but he's got progressively worse as his career has went on. He has also by his own admission, been lethargic and uninterested for long spells.
Everybody is taking the piss out of us. Mainly Moyes like, saying times change but Moyes never does (bringing in Pienaar and Anichebe) Everton fans say he is the worst striker in the premier league, behind Niasse. WBA fans saying when you have an injury crisis, you shouldn't be going out and signing the most injury prone player in the league
Actually, seems that stat is not complete. Here's another way of doing it (with complete stats) so you can eliminate the subs aspect which always gives a false reading on appearances(5 minutes of football equating to one appearance for example.) He's played 10,424 minutes of first team competitive football scoring 35 goals. So thats 1 goal every 297 minutes. So he scores 1 goal every 3.3 games as full 90 minutes. Shows he's been mostly utilised when the option he provides calls for it. Not great but a hell of a lot better than the inaccurate 1 in 8. So lets put it in perspective. Lets use Steven Fletcher's Sunderland career. Overpriced, over paid, bang average. He played 7364 minutes for Sunderland scoring 23 goals. that's 1 goal every 320 minutes or 1 every 3.5 games of full 90 minutes. So yeah, He's not great, but not as bad as some making out. His footballing career has been more successful in goal return than Fletcher's Sunderland career in goal return. Fletch cost over 10 million and was on massive wages. This lad cost nowt and will be earning very little. He'll provide back up and give alternative options. When you number crunch we've had a hell of a lot worse in recent times at much much bigger cost. He'll get us through till Jan. Safe solid signing on the data.
I believe that's data manipulation. Not your idea or intention, that's just how it is because of what you provided. The top players who score 1 goal in every 2 games, if we messed about with their minutes on the pitch then I reckon their stats would be unbelievable. I stand by what I said about how he's been getting progressively worse throughout his career, but stats won't show that. He's apparently been brought in because he's a big lump. That doesn't make him a good hold up player though, I'd challenge that and say he doesn't use his strength properly and for want of a better word, is best as a striker on the last defenders shoulder. Away from the stats and seeing his performances, I don't believe this is a good signing and that better options were available. Time will tell though. I hope I'm proved wrong
I'm not messing about with minutes. It's based on every professional competitive minute he's played. No picking and choosing. Everything. I surgest your 1 in 8 stat is one of the most manipulated misrepresented form of stats going. Ask opta, Squwaka or any stat site. the Per 90 minute metric is the most accurate way to measure data to playing time and I've used it to deliver full facts. Fair do's if you don't agree but it is. http://statsbomb.com/2013/08/an-introduction-to-the-per-90-metric/ Have a fiddle on the squawka comparison site between the different metrics at play and you'll see for yourself how unreliable the other metrics are with your own eyes. Per 90 matric should be the only way anybody should present facts because it takes into account lost minutes every other matric doesn't account for. You're stat includes every minute he sat on the bench in which he came on. Flawed completly. Work by minutes played not games.
You didn't need to explain that, mate. I do understand it. I was saying if we done that for every player then stats would look a lot better than we have ever been use to and in comparison, his still wouldn't look very good. Stat's should only be used as an indicator, there's no better way to judge a player, than to watch him playing. I've done that and that's why I think, in my opinion, that my argument holds more weight, than any stats. He has got worse, and I still think there's better options available, than Anichebe. From what I've read from supporters of his former clubs, he is also very injury prone, which is what we certainly don't need now.
Several attempts here of polishing a turd. There's a reason he didn't get a club until after the window, the best I think you guys can hope for is that being on the scrap heap has humbled the lad and he realises that he's got an opportunity that his performances certainly don't merit, and he gives 110% to repay the faith Moyes has shown in him.
Well no, if we do that for ever player you're comparing against the same unit of measurement so if a player is actually. They'd just be accurate. I'm not talking about the value of stats(I've always shouted it form the roof top that stats never tell the full story so not sure why you're going there) or the quality of the player. I'm talking about you rubbishing the way I presented stats which is the most accurate way possible to present them because you're measuring the full time played, while you're using the most inaccurate and outdated of a way to produce a stat that's over 50% inaccurate. Just standing up for myself when I know I'm right mate. I only stepped in and presented them to help out as the stats posted were factually flawed. Wish I hadn't bothered. Won't in future. Another thing less I'm doing for this **** hole. You lot a welcome to your unchallenged misinformed bubble. Crack on.
I did say it wasn't your idea or intention, so not sure why you are going on like that with me. We are only disagreeing on something, is all that I can see? I will crack on as well, Bri. I don't need to be told I can do so.
