On a serious note, we don't need a goalscorer, we already have literally one of the best in the country. We just need a target man to hold the ball up and bring others into play. Not saying Anichebe is amazing at that, but he's not awful either.
He's only ever scored goals with David McGoldrick. 34 goals in total his entire professional career before being paired with him. Couldn't even score at Ipswich before McGoldrick arrived. Once in a career Chemistry for someone who isn't a very intelligent footballer. Did you sign McGoldrick out of interest?
Can't see him scoring more than a couple, his record is ****, but he's a physical player and can make a nuisance of himself to make space for Defoe or Asoro.
Newcastle spent £100 million in a successful attempt at being relegated and forced to play in the 2nd division. Advice, from them, on who to buy is like taking advice on child care from Jimmy Saville.
If he can help us retain the ball further up the pitch then he'll do a job even he scores nowt imo. It's a big problem for us, it's what exposes our defence to wave upon wave of attack. We need to start playing in our opponents half, the more option to implement that the better. That's why I would have gone for Bendtner. He's the best at holding the ball up than any on the free agent target men imo. He's a handful physically, packs the height, and you can play it into his feet. But moyes has gone for what he knows which I can respect. I wouldn't mind taking Berbatov as well as anichebe for another option to help retain the ball. He'd do well off the bench, shaking things up and making things happen late on.
Prolific he may not be, but then neither was NQ. Strike partners could be the beneficiary of this signing - hopefully.
I've been pretty supportive up to now but see no point in this signing whatsoever to be honest. Think he's a bit of a waste of a space in the squad.
I'm gonna reserve judgement, many times clubs have brought in uninspiring stop gap signings and they've done a good solid job.
You never know. Some games he has looked a handful and scored. Dome he's looked dire.... an improvement on Jozy, and if Moyes gets him fit - which he's told him he will - he should at least tire and batter sime defences into creating gaps for our other fowards to exploit. We'll see eh
