And yet VAR works well in both Rugby modes and in Tennis.

I suspect that the song is OK but it's singers are out of tune.

Or to put it another way it aint being used sensibly.

Always said that VAR would cause less controversy but when that controversy is there it will be huge. Bad decisions after looking at VAR are gonna cause bigger issues. Even after replays things arnt always cut and dry. Dont like it personally.

I think goal line and offsides. Only 2 things that aren’t about opinion I think

Can't believe that was given and that some people are supporting the decision including Guardiola himself. You can't blast the ball into somebody's arm and win a penalty and especially not when they were halfway through moving it behind their back from a natural starting point.

Even offsides can be iffy with the hindsight of a replay on rare occassions I just think they should just leave every mistake down to human error and a single persons interpretation at the heat of the moment rather than risk monumental hindsighted cockups. The only thing I have time for is goal-line technology where the referee knows instantly whether theres a goal or not and not him doing this jogging off to watch a replay nonsense.

In rugby though (well union, at least), the ref goes to the TMO with a specific question if their is something he wants checking. In football, the VAR interrupts the referee to tell him that something is wrong. That in itself is the inherent problem of its use in football, but decisions like last night's, where ludicrous judgments are made by someone watching on a TV screen miles away, make VAR open to ridicule. It shouldn't be used in football. The character and culture of the game make it inappropriate.

Maybe the rugby model is the way to work it.

Referee makes decision, referee requests assistance if he feels uncertain. If ref gives decision it stands, no 3rd party.

Morata also had a disallowed goal last night where he barely brushed Chiellini and he flung himself down then appealed for VAR.

Controversy has always added, not taken away, from the excitement of our game, the debate etc. It’s part of football.

Shouldn't be up to the ref to use VAR. It should be up to the captains and/or managers. Each team gets 1 crack at it per half or match. If the VAR referral is deemed correct they keep their life.

That could actually work, like challenges in tennis.

    Never happen like.

And I literally mean 'keep their life.' They shant be tied up to the goalpost and executed by firing squad. That threat would stop the player or manager wasting everybodies time by going to VAR! Good eh?

Still to me the issue with VAR is that it’s only used in certain games. So you say to the clubs that their game is less important than the man united game or Liverpool game. Which is simply bollocks. It should be on all games in the competition or none

It’s crazy that, I understand due to cost certain clubs can’t afford it, but for 2 games in the same competition to have different playing fields is madness.

I've just found out why VAR was introduced........to get Man Utd out of impossible situations, unbelievable.

It was a penalty mind. But wow!

Can’t deny the theatre of that one. Still don’t like it.

I like VAR for goal line incidents. My own view is that refs are going to make mistakes. It’s part of the game we love. It adds to the excitement, debate, and uncertainty. I’d hate it to rule every decision

Should only be fir definite decisions such as is he ball over the line or is he offside (both of these can be proven by technology)

Any VAR decision which is open to interpretation should be scrapped completely

Still think we’d have won to be honest. Think they’d have git maybe one handball pen as Powers was accidental much like the one at the other end. The foul on the beard was outside the box. His feet were never on the line so couldn’t technically be in the box.
