too late now mate Craig Hope and the Chronicle will have their stories up by 10pm![]()
A very fair post in my opinion. My opinion is that Mowbray, over the last 2 windows was given far too many not fit for purpose might be good in the future players and not given much for now all the while being expected to reach the playoffs.
I also believe the 4 strikers purchased was a complete joke. In various ways none were fit for purpose for this season either.
Dont get me wrong, once he started getting frustrated and that spilled out of him in interviews etc he simply had to go. But I 100% feel his frustration as I completely agree we are starting to go down the wrong path on recruitment.
And I'll explain that a bit more. The English based Ballard, Alese, Higgins, Cirkin, Huggins etc are all players that have improved the team. I think that side of the recruitment has been brilliant.
Theres not one foreign equivalent thats genuinely cemented a first 11 place. From Hoffman to Semendo. Many of them are far too young.
Yet they are accelerating the foreign policy and seemingly paused the English based U21 signings. I'm bemused.
I think the club are starting to go in the wrong direction. So I completely agree with Mowbray.
Just a guess, but 90% would have been for him. Nowt to go on, other than media interviews from players and from academy coaches. Players want to be part of a group and feeling fairly treated. Most will have felt that imo. If they didnt they are delusional. I have met plenty of delusional players by the way, so I am probably wrong. Some players would've been for Mowbray and some wouldn't. It happens at all clubs
A very fair post in my opinion.
I like the players we have signed in the round, but I am starting to think there is an imbalance somewhere with KLD. Mowbray raved much more about Rigg than say Adil or Ba. A fella with more experience in football than KLD and Speakman etc combined. We forget he knows how to get promoted out of this division I think. If it is a case he has been sacked for speaking out, then I only hope KLD and Speakman have at least listened to him and shown him the respect or listening to a fella like him. If they have an absolute commitment to one way, fine, he pays for the privelege, but if he ignores someone like Mowbray he needs better advisors for me.
Now I am not yet ready to throw the baby out with the bathwater. This model of ours is set in stone it seems. But I am putting Speakman/KLD on the spot for this appointment. I have said before anything less than top 6 for the new man is failure. Whoever they go for better be better than Mowbray clearly. There are any amount of talented young English lads, and talented young English coaches. All I ask is we have an open mindset on who we bring in, not a closed one. Time will tell, but if it is a European fella at all costs, they are naieve and not being the custodians of the club they claim they are. I suspect they are much more reasoned than we think, I hope so anyway. After all Dodds and Proctor keep surviving the cull...

I dont think mssing out on top 6 would mean the new manager hasnt been a success. Its a very tough league this year and for ms its about showing progress - that isnt as simple as finishing higher than we did the previous yr. We want to build towards getting in the PL and then succeeding in the league, so if we see progress across the team and lots of the new players kick on under the new manager then itll set us up better for challenging top 2 next seasonA very fair post in my opinion.

Give a new coach 2 or 3 months and we will see. Personally I think we’ll see an improvement once we settle in. Although some will say it’s players coming good and if we’d stuck with TM all would be good to. Always imponderables.A very fair post in my opinion.

Yes mate. This year. Why sack him otherwise. We have sacked a manager who has proven he can make top 6. Maybe but for bad luck with injuries he would have gone one better. 3 points off it now. We finish less than that fair to ask questions. As in this year? Top 6? Tone wasn't getting us that as per league position and form.
Then I am lost with sacking Mowbray. If the club are happy with a lower league position, why the commentary about sacking him? There is a fundamental rift appearing between the actions of the leadership team and the expectations of the leadership team. I watch with interest to who is next in the hotseat. My suspicion is it will be someone who doesnt know enough to challenge the leadership team, or who doesnt have enough in the tank to do it. Hope I am wrong, but alarm bells starting to tinkle a little wit me.I dont think mssing out on top 6 would mean the new manager hasnt been a success. LON will be like that, he’s made him captain and never dropped him after being a utility man a fill in player. Knows the new man probably won’t be the same for him.
I agree with a lot of that. Mowbray was left with an under strength squad in a few areas for this season. The balance of the strikers we have in terms of what they offer right now is way out of balance. Was that a bad mistake, just how our transfer dealings fell or a bit of both? It needs addressing along with areas like the depth / experience in midfield and we should have a bit more money in the January window to work with.My opinion is that Mowbray, over the last 2 windows was given far too many not fit for purpose might be good in the future players and not given much for now all the while being expected to reach the playoffs.

Because the style of play this season has been terrible, the results for the last few months have been appalling against some really poor sides, the way he handled the forwards was extremely poor from outing them all in the media to dropping each of them if they didn't score to having a system which frankly ignored the striker even though if you watch the games back they are consistently open and making good runs, the way he's ran crying to his mate complaining that his boss dare to question him is pretty low and has done him absolutely no favours within the fanbase including people who supported him, constantly in the media talking about inexperience was incredibly annoying when he signed up for the role knowing what it was which he himself admitted, every club he has coached would not take him back right now other than Hibs, incredibly stubborn tactically, he had more power within recruitment at Blackburn and did a worse job than he did here where he had limited power so I don't think he can complain about not getting what he wanted in the market, the transfer he clearly was a main factor in was Dack and he looks really quite poor, the media have spoken about him helping to attract good loan players yet the only 2 loans signed when he has been in charge are Gelhardt and Burstow. He did a good job last season but honestly he really rubbed me the wrong way and bored me this season with both his comments in the media and performances on the pitch.Yes mate. This year. Why sack him otherwise. We have sacked a manager who has proven he can make top 6. Maybe but for bad luck with injuries he would have gone one better. 3 points off it now. Pass to Clarke and hope for the best was Tony’s idea that lasted a bit too long. Good riddance.Anybody reading this thread you’d think mowbray was the best manager the world has ever seen when in fact he was very limited he’s never really had a big job and was unemployed when we took him on.
He’s ment to have a great reputation working with kids yet done nothing but moan for older more experienced players. He ran out of ideas for me and was constantly firing shots at the people above him, it’s as simple as that imo like.
