But where’s the fun in that? lol. I’d keep Lange on the premise he’s in charge of youth signings but he can only sign them once Don Fabio feels he’s done enough for the first team, whatever money is left over from him can then go to Lange to find us some more Bergvall’s.
Yeah this was my view but I feel like I can “let” Ange say that was the play, ultimately it worked in the end. But I think he only prioritised Europa because he knew he could do **** all in the Prem. You take out his first couple months and pretty much every team in the league sussed him out… except Man Utd .
Yeah, I think Ange said he sacked off the League just to make himself look good. Remember his comments when Spurs hosted Man City last year where some were clamouring for Spurs to lose to prevent Arsenal any chances of winning the PL? There's no way Ange would allow Spurs to lose - except for the last month or so to protect players for the Final.
Take away that opening stretch of 10 games and we picked up 78 points from the remaining 198 up for grabs. That is just so shockingly bad I cannot fathom how keeping him on was even a question.
Winning the Europa was fantastic, but this is the correct decision. Our league form was unbelievably bad, and we need to move on. Do I trust the powers that be to appoint the right manager, of course I don't but it doesn't mean we shouldn't try. Is Frank the right man? He is a very good coach who may well be a safe pair of hands and who does have a record of coaching players to be better, and we do have a lot of good young players who could become top class with the right development. I do worry that we will lose players on the back of this but equally there are very few of our senior players who I am that fussed about going. Both the statements from the club and from Ange were both extremely well worded.
A lot of Spurs fans online are really angry and upset with this news. Frankly (no pun intended lol), I'm surprised at the scale of just how many people are upset about this. It is absolutely the right decision for the club to sack him. 78 points from 66 games is an appalling record and a club like Spurs should absolutely not tolerate finishing 17th, regardless of the Europa League ruin. He can leave with his head held high that he ended your trophy drought and got you back into the Champions League. But keeping him on would not have led to any meaningful or tangible progress, in my opinion. And whilst injuries played a part in your terrible results, I'd argue he exacerbated things with his lack of rotation at times, strange substitutions, imbalanced starting line-ups and poor game management. Thomas Frank, who looks likely to take the job now, will be much more of a threat than Postecoglou. Your club have made the correct decision and, if Frank is backed in the transfer market, you could easily be challenging for the top-5 spots, whilst potentially going on another cup run again. I can't say for sure whether he'd succeed, but he's a good appointment that's worth the risk (assuming it does end up being him).
After we won the cup Ange made the point that the players have now gotten a taste of glory. And how he wanted to continue that winners mindset into next the season and build on it. Now the players start again with another new manager and buy into a totally new philosophy and style of play. Will we lose the momentum that comes with winning the Europa League when the new season starts with a different manager and they all start from scratch.
Rival managers sensed a vulnerability in Spurs. “You can see what their ideas are very clearly,” said a coach at a rival Premier League club, who wished to remain anonymous to protect relationships. “They play with a lot of players in their front line, they’re good at the high press, where they score a lot of goals. But when their full-backs are both up, leaving big spaces down the sides, you can kill them.” ————— This was proving quite an apparent theme throughout the last 18 months. Rival players were also quoted in post-match interviews of how they knew we’d set up and play. Don’t get me wrong, almost every team has an identifiable style of play but being extremely easy to actually read and counter is where issues arise and we became incredibly easy to read. The inverted FB nonsense especially cost us so many points in my opinion and the saddest thing is when Ange did finally let Porro and Udogie play as natural FBs they were immense, especially the Spaniard.
Just needed some stability for a while. I think it will be a long time before 250k people turn up for a parade. Which is what it’s all about to me as a fan.
I think he's done very well with mediocre resources at Brentford. Is very flexible and innovative tactically so may be an interesting appointment. The worry for me is how many players will want out now.
