Huddlestone this season has been playing IMO too deep, he is much more effective 10 yards further forward. He hasn't been at his best because of this and that has affected his confidence. I thought against Palarse he did play a bit further forward and look more affective.

I think Huddlestones totally casual style is a weakness. If he played with the urgency of Quinn, Jake or Meyler he'd be a lot better. He always seems to want to complete a pass, shot or tackle as slow as possible.

He just lacks pace, you saw when he gave the ball away on Monday and tried to get back, he just cannot recover.

Jesus ****ing H..... in a 3-5-2 where would your wing back play? Would it be in the 3 defenders or the 5 midfielders?

Simple one word answer.

It's time we had a new formation listed: 3-2 wing backs-3-2.

Listen you pedantic tosser, when people say we play 3-5-2 they don't mean we have 3 centre backs and 5 midfielders, or 5 defenders and 3 midfielders, we have 3 centre backs, 3 centre midfielders, with a wing back on each side. A wing back is someone who is responsible for all defensive and attack duties on his side - he isnt a 'defender or midfielder'.

Robertson and Elmo aren't full backs or midfielders - they're wing backs.

So save your faux cum-choking 'JESUS ****ING H' exclamation you prick - you're wrong as per.

Last season Hudd had hopes of playing for England again so had a big incentive which hasn't been there this season; could that be the reason for his generally average performances this season though agree with others in some games he has done well, just not been consistent.

Same could be said for Jake and Curtis also...or just a coincidence?

Yes you are right, so he shouldn't give the ball away, though when I played at least one of your team mate would shout "man on" to warn you.

Absolutely John, I said exactly that to the guy at the side of me. It was down in front of me and I never heard a call. Would not disagree with you about his lack of pace and that he should be further up field.

Once again people seem to confuse pedantic with being correct. And I'm really not wrong, 3-5-2 means 3 defenders, 5 midfielders and 2 attackers. FACT.

Considering the wing-back is a newly created position of, say the last 20 years or so, being a variation of a traditional winger with added defensive duties, I assume you therefore think a winger isn't a midfielder either?

It's 3-5-2 when attacking and 5-3-2 when defending, so they're covering both midfield and defensive roles, claiming one more than the other is bollocks.

That was down to Chester being behind him, according to posts on here.

I don't even know what point you're trying to hammer home - you're not going to convince me that a wing back is a midfielder - because they aren't. I assumed a winger was an attacking player that played out wide, but in front of a full back.

Its all good and well expecting ' a man on ' call but professional footballers should have a certain amount of awareness about them once on the pitch , it takes a matter of seconds to have a quick glance around.
