I'm genuinely amazed that he hasn't been. Even though I shouldn't be, I assumed that an utter pasting at the hands of Newcastle would force them to act.
Which in itself is remarkable, because I'm about as jaded as I thought was possible when it comes to our board. They outflanked me!
Wonder when we may see the next article from Jeremy Wilson? I reckon if we get a good result against Wigan then they'll feed him a load of spiel while we're all planning another trip to Wembley.
This would be the ideal time, well after the other ideal times in the recent past, to replace him. Saturday’s game, whilst important, is a free hit for a new manager, who would then have two weeks to work with the squad, minus international players, before the West Ham game.
It is a bit like when people say "well were you expecting any different?" in response when people get annoyed by a terrible performance. Short answer is yes. Reminds me of when I was at school/college/uni (terrible analogy I know) and was given an assignment due in a couple of months. I would do **** all about it until right til the last minute thinking "still got time". Well these last couple of games are the equivalent of me smashing in pro plus and staying up for 2 days straight to get the assignment done just before deadline. Saints have downed a couple of pints of hot chocolate and passed out asleep on their keyboard having done nothing.
I do wonder if we have actually sounded someone out and been knocked back. Like Silva is rumoured to be going to Everton in the summer, so there's no way he'd want a stressful few months with us. I wonder if we maybe have had a few rejections. Seems hard to believe a group of board members wouldn't be at least discussing contingency plans.
I think Silva would go for it if we offered him the job now. But look I am pretty damn sure the problem starts with the new owners. Any decisions about sacking managers / appointing new ones need the owners consent and I am convinced there is a major communication break down at the top of the club and hence the impasse and nothing happening / nothing coming out the club at all and we are in limbo with no one in charge !!!!
I have said it before and I will say it again . Hong Kong Saint called it . The new owner is NOT in it for the interests of SFC , what his interests are , is anyone's guess . Pretty sure someone posted that relegation would not be a disaster for him , if he was not looking long term at the clubs fate .
Don't worry, (should we beat Wigan) the new owner will come over to watch us at Wembley. I suspect he'll also come over to watch Chelsea and Man City come to SMS too. Certainly comes across as being committed to the club.
Does Gao really want a say in managerial decisions? Kat and Markus never got involved. I suppose that’s the big problem, we just have no idea.
Just saw a snippet of MP’s interview after the game on south today. They asked if he can keep them up and he basically said ‘I am the Southampton manager.’ Then they said it again and he said ‘if I can’t then I’d have to move along.’ Brilliant. I’m full of confidence now, don’t know what I was worried about.
