I didn't write it as well as i could have. Toro Rosso had already sent Ricciardo to do his soft tyre lap earlier, everyone only did 1 run on softs, ergo, it's Ricciardo's fault he didn't make it through.

Well he should still have been out making sure, so the team have made a mistake thinking he'd get through with that time

That's what is assumed with the mapping issue at hockenheim (and maybe before) that it was used as a form of traction control to help extend the longevity of the tyres on race.

I suppose you're right, they were using it to manage the revs, therefore, traction control.
