This is something you also see this quite a lot with rich business people, they have no interest in charity whatsoever until someone close to them is affected by some condition, and then suddenly they become a big champion of something.

Charitable donations are tax deductible, so any rich businessman with a half decent accountant will have an interest in charity...

I think at one point people were still smarting about the England thing. But his spells at Derby were a disaster. Can't say Championship is something he is good at negotiating.

I don't think he's good at all and if we'd stayed up and Silva left I'd never advocate getting him. But we're a ****ing car crash and we have to cut our cloth accordingly.

And I really wouldn't say his spells at Derby were a disaster, in his first spell from memory weren't they pissing the league until the last couple of months before a bad run saw them blow it? And then last season he massively improved them from Nige's terrible start. I'd totally take finishing in the top half next season.

Like BCC said, he wasn't a disaster at Derby. Before he went there they were a totally uninspiring lower mid-table every single year club and he turned them into promotion contenders which they've been ever since.

I don't hate McLaren, but there's a reason he isn't quickly linked to other Championship jobs.

Alexander at Scunthorpe would be my preffered choice if we were going British.

Some people still do nothing. Refreshing to see him actually doing something.

Watford Observer runs a story on three players Silva might potentially go for from his last club.

The Mirror reports exactly the same story, but says they're 'chasing' them.

Hertfordshire Mercury (part of The Mirror Group) repeats Mirror version of the story.

It's nowt but a speculative guess.
