I didn’t go, and haven’t watched the highlights. The hope that was raised after the two previous games suddenly evaporated into thin air. The deflation has left me totally disinterested in watching the goals. What happens in the next game? We’ll probably win 5-0!
I think we probably won't. :emoticon-0101-sadsm

Apparently we are the third worst team in Football League history when it comes to Boxing Day games. Last win was in 2018 against Man City. If only we could be playing them instead of Watford.

Merry Christmas to all, especially those who go to the match. I hope Leicesterlove's prediction proves right.

I will bet my.... Wait, nothing. I wouldn't bet anything on that happening

Another underwhelming performance - when you persist with Jordan Ayew as your starting striker you know you've given the opposition a tactical boost ....

I don't know whether there is a plan up Top's sleeve for January but I hope so, because we are sleep walking again into relegation territory, despite what Jordan James says.

At the moment I'm not convinced Top has a sleeve, let alone anything up it.
I'd obviously not expect the players to say anything that's not positive. I'm sure the PR people would go mad if he said "we're doomed" ....

Having watched admittedly only the exteded Highlights, we weren't as bad as I'd first suspected - sone of our approach plat was actually pretty good - but the need for a proper target man is obvious..

Both goals conceded were down to individual errors - Okoli getting closed down in possession for the first and Stolarcyk coming off second best with their centre-half (probably offside - but no VAR) ... that said I'd like to see us persevere with the centre backs although when Souttar is fully fit we could possibly switch to a 3 or play 2 of the 3 - don't want to see Vestergaard or Faes in a City shirt again ...

Oh well - gotta batter the sheep worriers (again) tomorrow, then hope for a real January squad shake up...

So yet again we start without a recognised striker ... ffs give Carranza a proper go - Ayew ain't scoring strikers goals - be chuffed if he proves me wrong mind ...

Two very average Championship sides! but a win is a win, it was good to see six of the youngsters finish the game. Fosse don't worry Ayew will not prove you wrong! Carranza is very lightweight and IMO Daka mark 2! WE do need a strong man upfront but is the purse shut?

Almost certainly starting Ayew as a striker again - so reliant on a goal from midfield - ffs give Jake Evans a chance to show what he can do - more than happy for JA to make me eat my words ... but just can't see it unless it's from the penalty spot..

I went last night, and what a shocking performance I saw.
Fans fighting each other in the concourse afterwards!! There's a lot of stuff wrong with the club at the moment, both on and off the pitch!!!

That was as close to total humiliation as you can get. Out-thought, out-fought, out-played and out-classed all over the pitch. United played like a team who knew what they should do and where they should be. We were just a bunch of individuals who looked like they didn't have a plan. If Fatawu is resorting to hopeful 35 yard shots because he can't see any other way of scoring then that says it all. The dressing room must be an awful place to be at the moment. I can't imagine any player of quality wanting to come to the club in January unless it's for a big pay day. But I can imagine there are a few who are already here who would love to get away.

Things are seriously wrong, like Harborough says. Both on and off the pitch we seem to have no sense of direction or leadership. The same old things are coming from the manager - unacceptable performance, individual mistakes, things he can't talk about. But he has to take some of the blame. His job as manager is to get the players together and to perform on the pitch. Things were bad at Sheffield United a little while ago, but they are now the form team in the league under Chris Wilder. Will Cifuentes be doing a Maresca or will he just cling on?

A defeat in the Cheltenham cup tie might be the catalyst for some activity.

I watched about 20 minutes on the TV then had to switch over. Like you say, there doesn’t seem to be any kind of game plan being applied, just 11 players on the pitch making it up as they go along. Blaming individual errors is just trying to deflect the blame. We’re getting back to the kind of performances we put in under Van Nistelrooy and they were totally unacceptable.
What is the next step? Are we in a financial position where we can sack him? I’m guessing not. If that’s not an option then we’re in trouble as I don’t see Cifuentes having the know how to get out of this mess. The Ipswich and Derby games seem a long long time ago now.

We were better second half - but the game had gone by then ... the lack of physicality was shocking ... we lost just about every loose ball / second challenge in that first half - Page and Monga (to a lesser extent) made a difference on that front with some much needed energy ...

Noticed Braybrooke was not in the Newport squad yesterday - suspect he's coming back or going out on a different loan - but he's been their outstanding player in a league more physically demanding than the Championship ... so obviously we'll ignore the obvious...

I listened to commentary from the Sheffield United stream. They were shocked at how terrible we were 'utterly toothless' was their continued description. They speculated that we'd offer more in the second half, but no, still nothing.

We were very poor ... and it looked like more than 5k empty seats ...

Fatawu scored another worldie ...
having done nothing much for 79 minutes - Stolarcyk gets MOTM which tells you all you need to know ...

Jordan James again our best outfield player although Okoli (in particular) and Nelson coped pretty well with Albion's formidable aerial threat from set pieces - they even had another centre back at full back ...

Second game in a row where we got outfought, indeed bullied, in midfield and in 50:50s all over the park, apart from Okoli ...

Ricky has been a great servant, but is now rather vulnerable against quick and robust wide players - I'd be tempted to shuffle him with Bobby de Cordova-Reid in that midfield slot behind the striker.

Jordan Ayew did OK - good finish and drew a fair few fouls ...

Monga was double (if not treble) marked every time he got the ball, but still showed glimpses of his prodigious talent (amazing footwork) - although his decision making needs to improve ... both wingers would benefit from having a proper combative centre-forward like Antonio to swing balls in to once they've done the full backs...

Marti got out of jail tonight ... and must know it deep down... West Brom should have gone home with all 3 points...
