Who was that commentator? Decordeva Road? ffs. Great ball in by Mukasa, brilliant work by Skipp to hold off the centre back, and a good header by Okoli (shame he cant pass the ball too well though). A hard fought draw and if only Daka didnt have a 50 bob head, cold have sneaked it.

Pretty solid and much to build on. No early goal concession and a clean sheet in the second half. We have been hampered all year by playing without an effective striker but the rest of them seem to be getting the message. Home to Norwich will be a good barometer of what can happen in the last dozen games and hopefully one or two important bodies back soon.

Looks like James should be fit in some capacity on Saturday, plus Fatawu should be fit to start. Finally some good news. Lascelles a possibility too, with these players back this should give us more than a fighting chance of stopping up. From what I saw against Boro the commitment in defence is a step in the right direction. I’m still not sure why we didn’t go for a striker in the window, Daka worked hard on Tuesday but his main job is scoring which seems to be the weakest part of his game.

Like you say, I thought Daka did work hard and his closing down and hold-up play were good. But that header! If that had gone in it would have done his confidence a world of good.

There must be someone in the depths of the club that can put the ball in the net, surely.

Lorentz Hutchinson... check him out ... (whilst we still have him) <yikes>

He does try. He's not very successful but he does at least try.
The commentary on the stream I watched, BBC Tees Radio, said 'Ayew plays football at walking pace' and you can't argue with that sad observation.

****ing awful so far - Norwich totally dominating - our first touch all around the park has been abysmal... and wtf are we doing at corners - we pull all 11 back whilst Norwich leave 3 defenders back around the halfway line - we then clear to one of them, under no pressure, allowing them to retain possession and come straight back at us again - Daka is also ****ing useless in defence, more a liability than any help - ffs leave him up there to contest any clearance - ****ing basics <grr>

Realistically I knew this season would be difficult, we weren't going to repeat the success of last time we were relegated, with a relatively straightforward instant promotion. And, I expected the points deduction to be an issue.
But, I wasn't expecting it to be this bad.

I was watching on the tv and turned off at half time, the defeat was inevitable. We need James back up to speed asap and what was Rowetts thinking starting Decordova Reid before Mavididi? All over the pitch our first touch was awful and Norwich’s work rate was far superior to ours. Luckily West Brom lost which still leaves us one win from getting out the drop zone, but now Oxford have renewed belief. This set of players are capable of so much more yet turn out listless performances more often than not. Anyone know how to get to Bromley?

I could understand Mavididi being left out of the starting line-up. He's been disappointing over the last few games and has created very little if anything. His body language never looks great and he seems disinterested in doing his defensive work. I was expecting Monga would get a run out but he seems to be out of favour at the moment.

The biggest disappointment had to be the lack of aggression that we showed all over the pitch at Middlesbrough. Daka was always jogging just behind the man with the ball and never quite managed to get a challenge in. Fatawu and Ricardo seem to have lost all form of communication and left huge spaces down our right.

Hopefully the injuries to Okoli and Nelson aren't too serious. We can't afford players missing at the moment.

Unfortunately I was at the match on Saturday! I also do not no why we don't have a couple of players up near the half way line when we defend corners we have all the players in the area with no outlet just boxed in, said to my mate in over 50 years this is the worst team that i have seen! Mclintocks team was woeful, Taylors team was money that we had wasted, Holloways side was bad and not much talent! but the side we now have have too many player's with a attitude that don't give a monkeys about the badge or club and the sooner that they go the better! the 4 players that we got on loan, one as not been seen, another one will spend more time with Ramsey in the treatment room the one that we got from Man C looked good until we dragged him down to our level, why oh why did we not try and get a striker?

But apart from that, Jamba, everything is going swimmingly. Let's focus on the positives. <doh>

A welcome point yesterday but could have easily been zero. What is it with the second half of a game? We got absolutely battered again with no shots on target. We go one goal up but then can't build on it and have to rely on the ref's leniency and our opponents' bad finishing after that.

Bristol City is almost a must win game.

Its good having JJ back. Thought BDCR was brilliant in cutting out angles when they had the ball, and Skippy ran the show. I wonder how many of us thought about the Southampton match when we went 2-0 up.

Agree about Skipp... wasn't overly impressed with BDCR tbf, gives the ball away a bit too much ... but at least his overhead mis-kick set up Fatawu!! ... and as for Ayew ... Daka runs much quicker if the only requirement is closing down ...

At least Daka looks like he's trying. Numerous times he busted a gut from the half way line to the box when we had the ball out wide. Ayew is still twatting about somewhere near the wing or centre circle, giving us no man in the middle.
