Yeah if I play as Saints I tend to stick to certain self imposed rules as otherwise it’s just far too easy. Prem teams have far too much money and you can just sign 20 4*+ potential 18 year olds every window. Think it was last years game where after 3/4 seasons I had a balance of over a billion and a transfer budget of about 600m! FM is way better than real life football
I’ve just sold young William “utterly pointless” Smallbone to Juventus so I believe that the transfer system may be problematic. Is that better if the moniker goes in front? “Utterly Pointless” Will Smallbone sounds better.
Yeah, I impose certain limits to make it a bit more interesting. No ridiculous transfers that are 90% clauses, no inbound transfers of real-life players above £30m (£40m after clauses), no exploitative corner routines. And an aim to have at least half my starting lineup be newgens within five years so that I can't just buy my way to the top.
Surprisingly low finishing on my beta version. Something like 11. I guess they don’t usually dole out high numbers to very young players
This game is potentially revealing why we didn’t bid for certain linked players. On mine it is saying Junior Adamu is highly unlikely to get a work permit even on appeal.
He doesn’t at first. Salzburg ask for a loan back if you buy him. Send him back, then reapply after 120 days and he gets it. Then recall him in Jan.
Just had a lovely moment against Leicester where Adarma caught Vestegaard dawdling on the ball, and ran through to score his second in an 8-0 victory. Revenge is sweet, even in a computer game!
They actually play him? Crazy. In my one he is on loan at wolves (I don’t think he starts) and as the World Cup break looms they are competing for 4th. Which is mad
Just googled it - there is a FM23 mobile and the one in Apple Arcade (FM23 touch) the touch is available on Apple TV, iPhone, iPad & Mac and is the "full PC experience" the mobile version is cut down. The weird thing is that the touch is 'free' with Apple Arcade (sub is £10/month, but I get mine part of Apple One with EE) and mobile is £8.99
I think the touch version is like a FM Lite. The game has got so in depth that it is basically like having a second job if you want to do everything on there, and as the game is now about 25+ years old there are people who grew up with it who now don’t have time to spend ages perfecting training or tweaking all the tactical variations like they would’ve done when they were a kid. I think the Touch version is aimed at them.
FM is a fickle mistress. I play a silly tactic that involves turning every match into a track meet, so FM gives me this newgen in my first season:
Those were the starting stats? That is insane. Mine are 1.5 stars at best but usually one with terrible stats On a slightly related note - the new champions league format that I assume is agreed in real life for a season after next - straight up bullshit. Clearly designed to overwhelmingly favour the big teams. You play eight random matches against different teams with teams and the home or away status being rather arbitrary it seems but presumably based on a coefficient. Top 8 auto qualify and the next 16 play off to reduce to 8 and then you get the last 16 More varied matches each year but seemingly very rigged. It almost seems like a very soft (and much bigger) form of the super league
I just realised that this is season 1? Where relative to the standard of the team 2.5 is probably lower than where I am at now. I still don’t think I had players with many / any bright Green stats at regen
It’s not random, it’s still seeded like the current pots but I’m not entirely sure how it works. I assume you can’t play anyone from your own country still and you have to play 4 home and 4 away, I’m not sure how they work that out, but it definitely isn’t a random draw Anyway restarted when the game was fully released and just won the Prem in my second season after finishing 4th the first, probably need to find a harder save than Saints or set myself some restricting rules
Considering buying the editor just to see what his PA is. But that's not even the craziest thing in my save. Bednarek continually rejected every attempt to sell him, until I finally agreed a loan-to-buy deal with...Barcelona.
