I know the point you’re trying to make even though it’s Salzburg not Leipzig, but they’re playing in Austria and continually outspend everyone in the division by miles. They also have numerous feeder clubs to allow free movement of players and dodgy deals. If you look at how many players they bring in from Africa etc and send them to Liefering it’s like they’re people trafficking :emoticon-0102-bigsm

My point is that I’m not against having a load of younger lads in the team at all, it’s exciting to watch but there has to be a limit because they need game time to develop and we can’t even offer some of them that now so why bring in more? What is the use of having someone as talented as Ba on the bench because we can’t give him a run of games to prove how good he is and then sign another 3-4 who’ll be in the same position when we’re on a budget?

This isn’t about the likes of Gooch, Bathh and Pritchard by the way I couldn’t give a ****e if any of them leave. It’s just about having a little bit of experience and quality in general.

Would you prefer us to have Dobson there, what pressure would that put on Neil or Ekwah.

Surely Ba is involved, learning and trying his best to fight his way into the team ...

... if he earns a place, he's in.

Is Tone just applying pressure by persistently saying we’re close on forwards. It was a couple of forwards from “world football” 2 weeks ago. On Saturday, it was a striker in on Sunday. Nothing appears to have materialised yet.
Struck my mind as well

If you don't mind me saying Bob, this is where you're go wrong.

You're contradicting someone and posting guesswork as a fact.

He wasn't so much let go as wanted by another club prepared to pay for him.
Not guesswork mate I was told by a VERY creditable agent.

Club are making Mowbray look very stupid right now. My bet is there will be no new player in for the Coventry game

Mentioning timescales for new signings does seem a bit odd mind, either Mowbray is being told this or he is making it up. Either way I bet it's annoying someone inside the club.

Well considering he was let go to free wages, I don't think there was a big fee involved.
But I'm sure someone will point out we supposedly got £3. 5 million for him.
We didn't.
It doesn't really matter if we got £3.5 million or £3.50 and a bag of haribos.

Unfortunately he didn't want to be here and never showed the promise we (me especially) hoped.

Him leaving freed up wages to be better spent elsewhere and frankly we need to keep a tight reign on wages

There's all sorts of reasons why a deal Mowbray "thought" might happen, might not have happened yet. Here's a few options - starting with the outlandish and ending on the ones I think are much more likely:
  • It was genuinely about to happen but Speakman decided Jobe's a striker now
  • He was making it up to put pressure on the board
  • He just genuinely hopes it happens but without any malice
  • The player has more or less signed and is even training with us but not been announced yet for whatever reason
  • The player was about to sign but we changed our mind because we got wind of an even better option coming available which might take a bit longer
  • The player was about to sign but got a better offer
  • He was mis-informed about how advanced it was
  • A deal that was advanced is taking longer to dot the I's and cross the T's than expected
  • A deal has been more or less agreed but the selling / loaning club have just got an injury so need them to recover first
  • A deal has been more or less agreed but the selling / loaning club need a replacement first, which is taking longer than expected

Unfortunately however people just jump to assuming its because we are inept...

The problem is that people take off the cuff comments from Mowbray and turn them into the Ten Commandments.

Could be anything. I think there’s pressure being put on through the media but ‘sorry for the delay just been talking to Speakman about transfers’ was the clear evidence not this

Forgive me it’s probs a stupid question but who on earth is Dobson!?

Ba has no chance of starting over Clarke. Clarke is the golden boy and without a run of games Ba can’t prove how good he is so it’s a non-starter because he’ll never be given that chance.

Clarke was the same at Stoke, playing off the bench most of the time and I’m not sure he even had a single goal involvement he was useless. They need regular game time to show what they’re about and gain some confidence, coming off the bench for 10-15 mins here or there rarely does that.
