Ba has no chance of starting over Clarke. Clarke is the golden boy and without a run of games Ba can’t prove how good he is so it’s a non-starter because he’ll never be given that chance.

Clarke was the same at Stoke, playing off the bench most of the time and I’m not sure he even had a single goal involvement he was useless. They need regular game time to show what they’re about and gain some confidence, coming off the bench for 10-15 mins here or there rarely does that.

My point is that I’m not against having a load of younger lads in the team at all, it’s exciting to watch but there has to be a limit because they need game time to develop and we can’t even offer some of them that now so why bring in more? What is the use of having someone as talented as Ba on the bench because we can’t give him a run of games to prove how good he is and then sign another 3-4 who’ll be in the same position when we’re on a budget?

This isn’t about the likes of Gooch, Bathh and Pritchard by the way I couldn’t give a ****e if any of them leave. It’s just about having a little bit of experience and quality in general.

I take your point and it’s a game of opinions. Fair enough. Although you said there has to be a limit. The Leipzig/Salzburg point was meant to say that we don’t necessarily need a few experienced players. If we do have a few experienced players, they should be capable of challenging for the top of the league, which I don’t think these three are tbh. Dack, Stewart, and a new CDM signing would be a much stronger core.

Pure speculation from me but I would guess that KLD/KS/SH etc were disappointed to see Gooch and Pritchard come on against Rotherham instead of Ba and Bennette. Mowbray seems a bit reluctant to play certain players, this included Hume until Gooch got injured and then he came in and made the position his own. Some fans would have been absolutely fuming if we had thrown away a 2-1 lead against Rotherham. Personally I would have preferred we risked that and brought Ba and Bennette on.

As much as I'd love the squad to be sorted now, we will have to wait for others up the chain before we get deals done.

Just hoping at least one incoming is permanent and not all loans

Definitely mate. Gooch is just versatile and gets the club, good lad to have around but nowhere near good enough and Bathh is past it but our defensive options weren’t great last season which made him look much better than he is. I do like Pritchard I think he gives us some control and creativity that nobody else could but Dack is definitely an upgrade if he stays fit.

People are far too concerned about losing players who shouldn’t even be in our starting Xl. Brentford signed Pontus Jansson from Leeds when he was about 28 and I think a signing like that would be perfect for us. Nothing flashy whatsoever just a decent defender with loads of experience, leader on the pitch, the kind of player who could walk into the team and be captain straight away but still has a few years in him before he starts slowing down. I think that kind of signing along with a quality CDM who’s also got some years at a decent level would sort us out, the spine of the team is so important and as it stands we have O’nien as the only player with any real experience bar Neil who’s mostly played at L1 level which is just madness.
