If you’re saying we are ok squad wise up top - we really aren’t. We need a ready to play number nine asap. Should we pay ridiculous fees ? Should we lower standards ? No. That means we may have to wait or loan. I’d rather have a better quality player through a loan than ‘our’ player but not good enough yet. We already have them. Personally I still think they should have had a ‘laser focus’ on the right player and secured that player by now so there have been errors or miscalculations but what’s evident from our three defeats in a row is we’re missing quality, so let’s not sign less than we need.,
My best mate is a Preston season ticket holder and he rang me after the match and said they hardly got a kick in the whole match, both there goals were flukes and Clarkes was a 100% penalty. He then said after Clarkes goal he was expecting a real battering until it dawned on him that we just did not have anyone to put it in the goal.
To summarise he said if we had one or two decent strikers we could have had five our play was that good. Our conversation ended with me saying F uck off Brian.

This desperation to bring in any old striker reminds me of being a young lad and dating a lass you really knew wasn't your type, because you didn't currently have a girlfriend.

You take her out, spend money on he but she doesn't perform as you'd hoped despite a bit of coaching. Then she can't take a hint and clear off so you're stuck with her ...

... then your dream girl becomes available but she sees you're fixed up and goes with someone else <doh>

I think youve been reading too many Mills and boon books mate <laugh>.

Over 10 pages today while I've been at work, can anyone sum up for me, please?

Anyone signed? Anything rumoured? Or was it just 200 posts of crap?
Broadcast Press conference said nothing imminent, suggestion of loans being only option, minor meltdown. Subsequent unbroadcast press conference reports say signing tomorrow all but complete, no mention of whether loan or not.
Rusyn, Dennis, Stansfield all mentioned by various people as possibilities.

Not having a go just curious as to why you think this model won't work here
Probably because we are still using a league 1 model, when you move up a league the model should also move up and expenditure also moves up. Which player BOUGHT this window is first team ready to play 2/3 of matches, just Dack is first team ready.

Unfortunately patience is needed in football unless you have silly money and even then its not guaranteed

Too much is made of the model imo, the thing that has impressed me is they have a vision n a plan. All succesful businesses have this. Will they get stuff wrong, 100% they will but at least they are going about it the right way. We need to focus on recruitment and development of talent, thats the only way we will be successful

Throwing money at it wont work unless you have a vision n a plan. Remember KLD has spent money, hes invested a lot in the data n recruitment team as well as bringing in quality coaches to the academy. We also had the 2nd highest net spend in the league last season n the only team higher had just got relegated from the PL

It will take time but the aim is for it to sustainable over a number of yrs n not just 1 or 2 good seasons like we had under reidy (only counting the pl seasons)

Patience is something us supporters dont have tho but we need it lol

We definitely are not using a league 1 model - we are using a model that got us promoted then took us to 6th place last season!!

We dont know which players weve signed this summer are ready for 1st team football yet as its only been 3 games. Took clarke, roberts, hume, batth, Ekwah etc all time to settle - non of them set the world alight 1st few games

I remember loads writing off batth after his 2nd game with us, been an unreal signing yet some wrote him off after 2 games

Not sure what you’re point is We haven’t just moved up from league 1. We got into the playoffs last season sticking to a plan fully expect us to gradually upgrade and run very close to top 2 this season I’ve seen us spend daft money and get relegated. Two defeats and we throw the baby out with the bath water not for me

Yeah he has which makes it all the more frustrating that hes warming the bench. How many other teams would drop their player of the season straight after the season ends and replace him with someone whos not a natural CB?

Its quite obvious were looking at a way to get rid of him which is also very frustrating

Was he called Brian or was that someone else?
It’s right though. A proper striker is hungry for the toe poke and pointing exactly where they want it. I think we need a goal hungry player ahead of a big man personally.

Ashley Barnes would have done a good job for us if wed have shown any interest in him. Unfortunately Norwich signed him instead.

Or maybe batth just hasnt looked sharp in training, maybe his injury last season has really impacted him. We just dont know, think a few have commented and said batth didn't look quite right in preseason, we just dont know

That’s how I see it too.

I’d definitely have Cattermole back at the club in a coaching role for the youngsters. A lot of these kids, especially the local lads, will already see him as a role model regarding his attitude in the late part of his career with us.

He also wasn’t anywhere near as reckless on the pitch as some opposition clubs and the press would have you believe.
Thought his attitude was appalling when we were last in championship. Like most of other players. He didn’t give a **** and sauntered his way through a game
