So looks like theyve sacked off a permanent addition and are looking to borrow again. All to be in the same position in 12 months time.

If you’re saying we are ok squad wise up top - we really aren’t. We need a ready to play number nine asap. Should we pay ridiculous fees ? Should we lower standards ? No. That means we may have to wait or loan. I’d rather have a better quality player through a loan than ‘our’ player but not good enough yet. We already have them. Personally I still think they should have had a ‘laser focus’ on the right player and secured that player by now so there have been errors or miscalculations but what’s evident from our three defeats in a row is we’re missing quality, so let’s not sign less than we need.,
Don’t try make the three defeats out on a lack of striker pal we have been the better team in prity much all games but when a ball hits of the attackers ass and goes in do you think a premier league striker is gona effect that?. We’ve lost a couple games just like the start of last season ffs. Steady on.

We lost plenty of games Stewart played in ...

... and won plenty without him.

Why do you think the ball hit the opposing players arse and went in? Seriously ? They have forwards in the 9 postition who sniff out a chance and run across the box and line of sight of the goal keeper. I have watched every minute of our games this season. We haven't had 1 do that once. So yeah, it's an issue.

We expected it to be this way just have to say, to still be waiting is disappointing. I pray we win Saturday. All the XG in the world will make no difference with impotence in the forward positions and I can start to feel the general chat of fans starting to turn negative. That's also a risk you pay with waiting.

This "model" will not work here imho, been thinking this for a while. Is this model a fancy way of KLD saying I'm not putting significant funds in. IMO the only way a club like ours will ever be properly successful is by having somebody come in with massive investment and prepared to throw proper big boys money at it. Before anyone jumps on me, it's like I say, all just my personal opinion.
the model won't work cos the fans don't have the patience, and that's the truth First day through the door KLD said this was going to be sustainable, never promised big bucks, there is a 5 year plan here to get us to the prem, if the plan works and the model we will be going into that with potentially the best talent and best foundations the club has had, problem is can the fans wait that long, i don't think the will and my opinion i'll be gutted if/when KLD gets chased out

I just don't think we'll have the patience for it overall. The model only works if we're selling our best, most reputable players for big money and using the money to strengthen the overall squad. Which I personally don't have a problem with. Likes of Clarke, Neil etc will inevitably have to be sold. But then you'll get fans fuming about selling our assets, and how are we ever going to progress if we sell all our best players.
We've obviously reached a limit now whereby we can't bring anymore in, permanently, without players going.
Personally don't think as a fan base we are any less patient and expectant than any other team to be honest.
What I've learned over the years is that forums and twitter are not really representative of our supporters. This forum is by far the most balanced.
Most of the half dozen or so chaps I meet up with haven't even heard of RTG and only one of them is on twitter. And most of them obviously want a striker but are happy with the progress we are making. Last season is the best I've seen since Reidy and two defeats don't change that. Win a few games and the mood will change.
Back to the model. By nature it has to be a slow burner. Over the next few years we will see players come and go and the quality gradually increase.
Teams have always sold good players reinvested and progressed. Alex Ferguson was a master at it.
But we are starting from a very low bar so unfortunately patience is the key.
And its not obvious at all that we have reached our spending limit without selling. The window is still open but the market is a mess this season all teams are complaining

Fortunately the match going supporters are mostly behind this approach

I know it was only a friendly but our performance against Hartlepool was woeful 5 days before the new season. We started with pretty much the same team that started against Crewe.

Sorry to seem pedantic mate, but it is now down to 4 years. Just saying…

Change of tact from Tony today, wasn’t so long ago it was a couple of forwards close from abroad on permanents, now seems pretty resigned to loans on deadline day. Speakman not covering himself in glory with the whole ‘immediate opportunities in the market’ comment from the Lihadji sale as it stands either.

I think the model will work, as you've stated KLD has a 5 year plan. I believe he's got the courage and nous to make it, and as someone else said, once a couple of our best players are sold for big bucks with the money reinvested in better players, the sooner the fanbase will align to the model.

I don't think there is any talk of being chased out. Their is a long term vision to transform safc and it's holdings.

However, I do think we absolutely need to have more flex in the model for us to compete and harbor ambitions of promotion.
