You said we didn't create chances, I mentioned 2 that we created in addition to the goal. Doesn't matter who they fall to, that wasn't what we were talking about.
sorry like but you can't count the one open goal as a created chance, it was a shot from the edge of the box that the keeper parried, we created nothing for hemir not one ball into the box for him, and the only chance he did have he had to creat for him self

sorry like but no we wouldn't of, roberts and clarke were shocking, couldn't beat the first man and creating nothing, aye we need another striker, but it wouldn't have changed anything yesterday
Them pair wanted their own ball yesterday. Wish Roberts would shoot more aswell, infuriates me when he cuts instead and then tries a Hollywood pass or taking on another player, cut inside and shoot ffs.

But you dont know that, its ifs buts as you say that
What I will say after yesterday is that we are better than Ipswich. Worst possible time to get them, they rode their luck and took their chances. One of those days for us. We weren't brilliant, far from it, but I think some are being far too negative. Some of the football we play is outstanding.

Yeah, you are probably right - what happens on the pitch always dictates what is spoken about and it masks a multitude of problems. However we all saw the difficulties we had last season with no strikers and we don't want a repeat, but as it stands (and the way the Manager is talking) suggests it's going to be more of the same. I really hope I'm wrong and am made to look silly when Hemir scores a hat trick at Deepdale and we sign 2 experienced strikers the next day, but as it stands I have massive concerns
And thats fair but my point is a lot of the chat today is based on us getting beat yesterday. As supporters we will always go by a result by result basis but the club cant. They will have their targets and will be working their way through the list.

We all want the same thing, so feel like we are all arguing over the same points just from different directions

We all know we need a striker - in my opinion we need 2 forwards as a minimum

I just get wound up when its made out that recruitment is easy n it should all be done by the start of the window. Every single club wants that, as others have said ideally the transfer window would close at the same time for all leagues (impossible to do tho).

I appreciate im probably clogging up the thread as well today, i kmow the debate is about our summer activities but I know folk will be at work n jumping on the thread to just see if theres transfer news or not.

Im away to do some scouting now, hopefully find an experienced striker i can forward to the club

I would say the good thing about the debate this morning, is no1 has stepped over the line and gotten personal

Enjoy your day lads, hopefully jump on later to see weve signed a striker

You can't honestly believe that. Surely??
We didn't create a whole bunch of chances. TM said his self we played some really nice stuff, working the ball between the lines but lacked that killer final ball. Saying that we do need forward reinforcements and not just an out and out striker.

I'm generally an optimistic person, and I like the talent I see on the pitch. There are two areas of concern, which I'm sure will be addressed. I'm not frightened of any of the teams you mention....apart from I just know Ellis Simms is going to get one against us!!<doh> :emoticon-0102-bigsm
Having said that....if we don't get any points from those games,I will agree with you that it will be a very slow start!
The former players thing is weird - it's like every time we play against one, they score - Connor Wickham's only goal for MK Dons was against us, Chris Maguire hat trick for Lincoln, Wyke's only goal last season? Against us. Broadhead scores, and nearly had a 2nd. Grabban for Villa, Sess for WBA Wickham for Palace - you just know Maja will score his first for WBA against us.

It probably happens to other teams, but it seems to happen every time to us :emoticon-0140-rofl:

That is the great thing about this place we can disagree but never crosses into abuse. I respect those that have a different point of view to myself. One thing we all have in common is the love for our club. It's that passion that separates us from other clubs. We live and breath footy and it hurts when we lose. But we always bounce back as fans

100% how can a striker score if he's got nothing,
He can create his own chances - if Hemir closed down like Stewart does, it's quite possible we catch the Ipswich keeper in possession yesterday - they were dicking about with it at the back loads. Hemir made a couple half arsed attempts to close down without ever looking like he was really trying. Feasible that Stewart gets on the end of some of those crosses/corners and the couple of times we played it long, where Hemir lost the header, Stewart might well have won it.

I assume any football team have regular meetings (weekly/monthly) on recruitment. I cannot believe they wait until the transfer window to discuss possible recruits. No-one can convince me that they have scoured the footballing world since early January to find a suitable replacement to spearhead our attack. From the outside, it looks like we are finding very young players who have a chance to develop into players with a sell on value...thats all well and good, but some positions are for the here and now..not 6 months or 1 year down the line. We glaring issues and they have not been addressed in a very long time frame

what crosses, ? when we had a striker on we didn't put one into the box, all are corners where over hit or didn't beat the first man

i totally agree we need another striker but yesterday, even the best striker in world would of been hating his life in are team yesterday,

Good post mate. I'm sure I'm not alone in saying your opinion is always welcome...you're not clogging any threads up!
The debates we have on here are almost always interesting, insightful and intelligent. It's always great to get other people's take on things.

Again, I disagree... the game would have been so very different in the fist 30 mins with a proven striker who knows his trade
