Just a bit of a left field suggestion, but I wonder if anyone as considered Neal Maupay at Everton. He fits our waifs and strays profile, only 27 years old so should be in his prime. I presume he would be on silly money, but for a loan fee similar to what we want to pay for Cannon, and to get them to stump up most of his wage, to me it’s good all round. Frees a place and some wages up in their squad and gives us an experienced striker with a point to prove.

Would imagine wages would be well in excess of our limit.

He’s getting no game time and love there, that’s why I would hope they would consider a cheeky loan
Everton are probably thick enough to send him and cover his wages too, just as likely to recall him 4 weeks later like :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Would be quality here and I love the thought of it but can't see it unfortunately. Unless of course we throw in a promotion clause to buy at which point we would be able to pay higher wages.

Again I love the thought of it but unfortunately probably just a pipe dream.

Always going to happen. If the striker doesn't come by Monday, no doubt I'll be in the firing line again. Be surprised if it doesn't get done by then though.
Bank holiday tomorrow mate. May be Tuesday as a result.

Re: Ba, I recall a lot of "fans" wanted Ekwah shipped out after one game cos he made a mistake. Coming on here and there for 15-20 mins means a player is never going to be able show his best. Just my humble opinion of course.
I dont think he will get that here so if he is shipped out I cannot see him coming back.

This. Some of our fans are the worst at times. Watch 90 minutes of football a week, pick their favourites from our squad, claim they’re better than they are and that’s that. Everyone else isn’t good enough. Same nuggets whinging about Diallo after a few games.

I actually thought about this not long ago mate but don’t think the financials would allow for it. Think he’d suit how we play down to a tee, absolutely harasses defences and a good player in tight spaces. Small anarl so we can stop worrying about our inability to put a decent ball into the box :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Stewart was ‘not good enough’ for a while as well.

Deeper than this the grief Kenwyne, Richardson and Sessegnon got from sections. Possibly the 3 best players we’ve had in recent memory.

Madness.

Is it some sort of ‘I’m a better judge of a player than you’ kind of mentality? Like they could see after 30 seconds that whichever player was crap or brilliant. Then that’s often coupled with the notion that changing a view on a player is a sign of weakness - rather than being wise / big enough to admit a view is wrong.

Spot on, I’m first to admit I’m such a great judge of a player I thought Quinn was **** b4 his injury, and Phillips was a flash in the pan after about 3 games, what a numpty I am.

Are we the only football club, neigh the only corporate business, in the world where the director level people disappear on weekends and bank holidays and business just goes on hold

I suppose it ties in with the lower level stuff, ticket office/club shop etc not being open bearly at all.

Phillips is a great example. Was a bit pre internet but can you imagine the talk.

We went for Connolly and ‘settled’ for Phillips. That’s fact. But can you imagine the reaction to that today?

‘Well he’s nee Connolly absolutely desperate’

Aye, best striker we’ve had in many of our lifetimes.

Still remember a long ball was played up to Kenwyn who was on the edge of the area, the ball dropped between the penalty spot and 6 yard box, bloke behind me shouts for **** sake Kenwyn jump for it you lazy bastard, just sums up how some players can do nothing right in some supporters eyes

I've never seen a single poster say that ...

... not even the married ones come to think of it.

What makes you think that? Because of a random comment on a message board. With the window closing soon I would expect the recruitment team are working today and tomorrow.

You either a) love to wind up or b) just say the first thing that comes into your head. They don’t disappear all weekend and business still goes on .
