Is Grant Holt not a part of the "we" then? Is it NCFC + Grant Holt.

The gripe is he was blaming missed chances when the real issue was chances created, he was deflecting blame to others when it lay with him.

That's not a characteristic I appreciate.

"He was deflecting blame to others when it lay with him". So, since you can't do what I asked and point us to a single example of Chris Hughton "blaming" Grant Holt for our lack of goals, you now retreat into giving us your interpretation of various of Chris Hughton's after match comments etc. Please give us some explicit examples of this "deflecting blame". It is likely that nearly all the rest of us heard or read a lot of these comments too, but I for one seem to have a different understanding of them.

For what a general comment is worth, it seems to me that Chris Hughton is exceptionally honest in what he says and how he behaves; if anything you might criticise him for being too honest (as some have done over his remarks about the quality of player that some of our competitors in the PL can put on the field). Is that derogatory to our players? I don't think so, just giving credit to the opposition when it is due and a defence of our players who played their hearts out but lost a game. <ok>

Carrabuh, I was one of Hughton's biggest critics last year but now he has a clean slate, his own team if you like. If it's all going Pete Tong again after 6-10 games that is the time to say 'enough is enough'. CH appears to be either signing or trying to sign a much better calibre of player to push us on next year, let's stick together, get behind him and the team and see where it leads us <ok>

I'll wait until I see a change, unlike many of you, I am not swayed by results.

I'm far more likely to change my opinion of him if we have a bad start but at least look to play football than if its more of the same defensive rubbish with a long crossing format and we win our first three.

Exactly, CH is our manager and I like you will hope for the best for the New season. As someone also critical I just wish we could bury this backbiting until at least we see the lads playing again. Though carrabuh continues to make disparaging anti CH comments, I do think Supers continually reignited things with his holier than thou comments about anyone who dares say anything remotely negative.
Bah!

He says the same claptrap regardless of who we play, be it Reading or Arsenal.

I think he's a quite fear filled character

I've already explained the deflection of blame, its there, someones quoted a general it. I've read it as Grant Holt being a part of those being blamed, Grant Holt is a striker (along with the others) whom if I were them would think the bloke was taking the absolute piss.

......... I'll tell you one thing, not a single one of our signings or players we seem to be looking at indicate any change whatsoever.........Just more of the same.

Which "same" is that? The same as saw us go unbeaten through ten games and beat Man Utd and Arsenal in the process, and later saw us end the season with two cracking wins? Or the same that saw a run of dire games post-Christmas in which we struggled to put any sort of performance together? I am expecting to see more of the first same. We have debated the reasons behind the dire post-Christmas run at length, and we have got the message that your explanation can be summed up in one word "Hughton". OK that's your view. Others have a different one. But the constant sniping at Hughton on your part is simply getting tiresome. <ok>

Bah!

Pyjamas is lost to all reasonable thought, he's got too many peoples ideas from the club in his head to disagree with them with his own.

Ever since he's been on here I don't recall him ever disagreeing with the club.

No, the same that nearly got us rather needlessly relegated. To be honest the unbeaten run was very fortunate, our performances were not massively different to when we were losing.

I don't care if its tiresome, I can easily throw the same label at many on here (yourself included), I'm still waiting for an idea from you as to how you think we'll play, set ourselves up etc etc.

Gutted Holt is leaving. I wouldn't have personally sold him, as I think his character is worth more than money can buy. He's the only player we have who's been with us throughout just these amazing four years, and, in my opinion is just as much to do with our success as Paul Lambert. Heaven help us if Hughton and RVW struggle next season, as the fans will then no longer have a talisman to rally around, ala Roeder and Huckerby.

With the deaparture of Jackson, as well, this is a sad, though not necessarily bad, day for NCFC.

Thanks for the memories fellas.

We ****ing love Grant Holt.

I fully concur, he was part of the player catalyst that changed our fortunes, him, Hoolahan and Chris Martin.

Sadly, looks like only one of the trinity remain.

I have to say I am gutted Holt is leaving and he will be missed off and on the pitch. But we must understand that the club are ready to sell and holt is ready to be nearer his family, who could blame him or the club ? Good luck Grant Holt I for one hope you score lots of goals for Wigan and more against Ipswich :0)

Not for the first time do I find myself agreeing with Carrubah. Where is the evidence that Hughton has changed his tactics? We can all live in hope but where is the evidence? Buying one striker and getting rid of 4? Why also is everyone dismissing Bechio? I was firmly told on an earlier thread that Hughton doesn't dither or panic so why did he buy Bechio in Jan? Perhaps he thinks that with a few games last season and a full Premiership pre-season he will step up to the mark. Also what is all this hand wringing over Holt? Yes he served us well for 3 years but last year it seemed at times that he had lost his enthusiasm and in some games he was piss poor. He owes us as much as we owe him. If he had gone to Colchester just before he signed for us would he have had 2 years in the Premier League followed by a big money move to a top Championship side? What about all that ' it's not about money it's about security for family ' nonsense? Rings a bit hollow now doesn't it? As soon as he got an improved contract he moved his family up North and IMHO started agitated for a move up North himself. Would you really have wanted another 2 years of last years Holt?

A lot of holts frustration was from lack of support and service, he still worked bloody hard and whilst was certifiable for a short spell when coming off the bench I'd keep him if he would want to stay, is he to big of a character from the old regime tor CH's liking? Or is it just to Good a deal to pass up?
Bah!

Well good luck to grant if he does go to wigwam , total hero for us for the past 4 years

Interestingly, if we lose him, we will be left with strikers with virtually no game time for us - I don't think beccio started a game last season did he, plus obviously Ricky is new
Out with the old and in with the new then

We don't have the evidence at our disposal yet, do we? We don't even know what the starting line up is going to be. There are sure to be more signings, and living in hope is the bet bet until then.

If it doesn't work out, moan then, but why moan now? I just don't get it.

The only thing we are moaning about is some of the dross served up last year. We are SAYING that there is no evidence that tactics will change next year.
