I think the thing with Carroll is if we sell him, we make a massive loss and it becomes a very embarrasing episode for the whole club. I think 90% of fans wouldn't be fussed if we got decent money and then replaced with 1 or 2 quality forwards/midfielders but know thats unlikely so best scenario would be to keep him, hope he does ok then sell him a few year later if hes still not a world beater.

The whole thing is, from us buying him for that price, the performances, and now this. It sucks.

Sturridge could get us goals but the selfish thing could be worked on. Who knows, this transfer window has already been a bit crazy.

Just think Suarez and Sturridge up front could be a bit of an issue as both like getting the ball and running with it and trying to sometimes do a bit too much. 1 Selfish forward is ok in a team, but I think if you have 2 it can cause an issue as they don't strike up a partnership.

Dempsey I'm not too sure on. Last couple of seasons he's been on fire but at 29, can he cope with the high pressing game and how many more decent seasons would we get from him? Do think he's a good player and would be a plus for the commercial side of things in America so maybe he'd pay for himself in that respect.
 
I think Dempsey would be a good buy, but for squad depth only, I think we should be looking at better quality than Dempsey for our starting 11

I'd have no problems with those signings but I don't want us flogging Big Andy on the cheap to bring in Sturridge (and it now looks a certainty we will entertain offers for a sale). I wonder how many of the rest of our deals are dependant on BR getting money in first. Personally think we're handling the AC situation badly but if its to swap for Dempsey and Sturridge that will make matters even worse in my eyes.

I thought the reason Sturridge is unhappy is because he is play out wide at Chelsea? He wants to play CF which, if he joined us, I'm not sure he would get that, I reckon he would play left of the front three.
 
Interesting comments by Rory Smith from the Times during his webchat. Key points:

- Rodgers wants to play 4-3-3 with a trident of Suarez on the left, Borini in the middle, and another person on the right.

- We will be signing 3 more players after Borini and possibly a backup keeper if Doni goes.

- Borini is the most direct replacement for Carroll (which I find slightly worrying) but he can see LFC stepping up their chase for Dempsey as he is a versatile player.

- We are interested in Walcott but he doesn't expect it to materialise as Chelsea are in the race for him, and they can offer CL and he can stay in London.

- Lewis Holtby is on the list of targets but players need to leave before a move i made. Andy Carroll probably seems like an expendable asset which can help fund a couple of new players.

- Joe Allen is a serious target and can see him playing for LFC in the new season.

If FSG and Rodgers actually do want Dempsey then they missed a trick not getting him in before heading off to America. If we had signed him by now, I can guarentee the ticket sales, the jersey sales, the exposure over here, everything would have at the very least doubled. This trip would probably pay for Dempsey in shirt sales alone.

Been a bit quiet with Ibra to PG and Carrol to (?) dominating the headlines.

How about I'm flying the apache with some serious aviators and fat cigar, JW wife hanging out the side letting the wing blow her hair, with Cazorla and JW in the back counting the money from the briefcases, laughing with tremendous conviction?

Only to be greeted at the top of the ladder by a sales person who is trying to sell me a house, only...he is not an estate agent. At this point my trust in him has gone and my M16 seems to be firing marshmallow banana shapes. What happens now is that you come up behind this dodgy figure that trying to sell me a house that is no longer made out of brick as first intended...but timber and MDF...whack him on the head and then reach your hand out to me to help me back into the plane. I look at your sweaty black skin and gold bling around your neck only to realise you look like Mr T because I don't actually know what the **** you look like. <ok>
